Lil Wayne Talks "How To Love," Says New Single "Gives Him Goosebumps"

Lil Wayne Talks New Single "How To Love"
Lil Wayne fans got an unexpected surprise this week, then the new single off Weezy's Tha Carter IV album hit the internet.
Wayne's new single "How To Love" goes in a musical direction unlike anything the Cash Money/Young Money superstar has ever released.
"I can tell you that I've never had a single like it, and it's an amazing song. It's an amazing song," he said during his upcoming MTV "Unplugged" special, airing June 12th on MTV2.
"When I listen to it I get goose bumps," Weezy added. "And I feel like the song is gonna take me somewhere that I've never been musically."
Wayne, who's currently on his I Am Music Tour, is looking forward to adding the song to his performances.
"You know that if you come to a Lil Wayne show two years from now, you already know that 'I'm gonna get rap — some of the best rap — I'm gonna get some guitar, I'm gonna get some singin', I'm gonna get some dancin', I'm gonna get some old-school music, and I'm goin' to a show tonight.' And I think that's where this song is directing me to."
Adding on to his views of the new single, Wayne also expressed interest in taking his music beyond rap, saying, "I am a musician, and a few years back, I noticed that I wasn't just a rapper. And I noticed that I didn't want to do this just to rap," he said before clarifying his point. "I do want to go down as one of the greatest rappers of all time, but I also want to go down as one of the greatest musicians of all time.
"When you think about it, Tupac is just known as a great rapper; Biggie is just known as a great rapper, Jay-Z — just known as a great rapper," he continued. "I want to be known as that rapper that turned it all the way up and became the face of the music."
"When they make a billboard and put whoever they gonna put up there to define the word 'music,' I wanna be there."
Tha Carter IV is due out June 21st.

Ja Rule Talks New Album, Going To Prison, Having No Beef With 50 Cent

Ja Rule Claims He No Longer Has Beef With 50 Cent
At one time Ja Rule and 50 Cent engaged in a legendary rap beef, but roughly nine years since his battles with 50 started, looking past a brief Twitter exchange earlier this year, Ja Rule is done beefing with Curtis Jackson.
“It's resolved now. I'm cool. We ain't beefing no more,” Ja Rule said to the.LIFE Files, before dismissing the idea that he'd ever collaborate with the G-Unit boss.
“We'll never collaborate. That's just what it is. You don't have to be at war with somebody, but it's also kind of like U.S. and another country that they may not get along with.
"We don't gotta go to war, but we're not friends either. But we can coincide inside of a world. He's doing him, and he's not thinking about me, and I'm doing me and I'm not thinking about him.”
Rule also talked of a recent exchange of words between himself and the aforementioned 50 Cent on Twitter, and if he had it to do over again, Ja would probably not have hit the "send" button.
“I was a little ashamed of myself to be even involved with that," he began."Because I'm like, yo, I'm 35 years old and I'm on Twitter beef? That's not something I want to entertain, but I'm a man first, so I'm reading shit like him sending Tweets and little things about me.
"Like, damn, nigga, what's the problem man? We've been through that. It's over. We done that. It was just that. It was a spur of the moment thing.”
“I was just mad at the moment because I couldn't believe that he was still engaging me," he continued. "Like, nigga, you still beefing with me? You still want to beef with me, nigga? I'm done with that.
"You got what you wanted out this business. You made you some money. You blew up, you did your thing. Enjoy. And I'm enjoying life. It's not even that serious. And people are tired of it, I'm tired of it, and I don't want to talk about it no more. I don't want people to ask me about it no more.”
Ja Rule is currently working on a new album, Pain Is Love 2, which he plans to release before beginning a two year prison sentence on weapons possession charges this year.
"I just want to put it out to the world before I go in," he said. "It's funny because, I'm about to go to jail, and my main concern is to make sure that I get this album done and out there for the fans."

Michelle Obama Responds To Common's White House Visit

Michelle Obama finally spoke up about inviting rapper/actor Common to the White House.
Common's visit to the White House received nation headlines over the last two weeks, due to critics arguing that the rapper's invitation to the first lady's poetry session was distasteful because of his praise of convicted cop killers.
MTV News quoted Michelle speaking to a group of students at Oxford University, saying, "We had a poetry session and we invited young kids in just last week from all over the country. And they talked to some of the most outstanding poets, and they read their poetry in the state room. And then we had a poetry night and Common was there. He's very cute. But everybody from poet laureates to hip-hop folks, being able to mix up the world in that very interesting way, the White House allows you to do that."
Fellow MC Nas also made recent comments in support of Common's invite to the White House.
"The people who feel like Common shouldn't be performing are really old in their thinking," Nas said. "It's like your grandparents have a microphone, and not even smart grandparents -- just ignorant grandparents...It scares the h*ll out of them. They feel like an endangered species in their way of thinking. People that are not open to change are just miserable."
It's a good thing Michelle Obama didn't invite Tyler, The Creator and Odd Future to the White House.
Black American would never hear the end of that.

Snoop Dogg Off Probation

Snoop Dogg  got some time chopped off his five year probation plan yesterday, when a judge waived the remaining 11 months from the rappers restriction period, according to TMZ.
The probation stems from a 2007 drug and weapons possession charge. In 2006, the rapper was arrested after performing on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno outside NBC studios.
During the arrest officers reportedly discovered marijuana, cocaine and a gun in Snoop's vehicle. The Dog Father was originally given 60 months of probation but a judge waived the remainder of the sentence Thursday.
Snoop's lawyer Donald Etra says the Snoop camp is “pleased” with the outcome.

Is Lebron Better Than Jordan? Scottie Pippen Thinks So

Whatchu talkin’ ’bout, Scottie…
In one of the most bold statements regarding NBA legends, Hall of Famer and former Chicago Bulls star Scottie Pippen, who is also a 6-time NBA championship and 7-time NBA All-Star winner, spoke with the ESPN Radio’s Mike & Mike show to voice his opinion about who is the best player to ever go hard in the paint.
After Lebron James and the Miami Heat team took out the Chicago Bulls in Game 5 of the NBA Playoffs last night, Scottie, who played alongside Michael Jordan, told the radio hosts that he believes Lebron is the best player to ever play the game. Back in March, Scottie spoke about his former teammate, saying that today he believes Jordan could score 100 points a game, but it’s LeBron’s willingness to have all of his Heat teammates involved that make him the best player:
“Michael Jordan is probably the greatest scorer to ever play in the game, but I may go as far to say LeBron James is probably the greatest player to ever play the game. He’s so potent offensively…not only can he score at will, but he keeps everybody involved. You have to be on your Ps and Qs because everybody is a threat to score when he’s on the floor. Not only that, LeBron James will dominate the game on the offensive end and he’s able to do it on the defensive end as well. He can get in those passing lanes and dominate the game.”
Since making the statement, Scottie took to his twitter today to further elaborate on his comments after being bombarded with hateful tweets:
Don’t get me wrong, MJ was and is the greatest. But LeBron could by all means get to his level someday.
Every NBA generation has a new set of stars and LeBron is there as the best all around player in the game.
Kobe’s not even included in this discussion, huh?

Are Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez The New Rihanna & Chris Brown

At age 17, most kids are trying to figure out what dress to wear to the prom and who to invite to their graduation. Justin Bieber, however, is a few years ahead of most 17 year olds, spending the past week on a romantic vacation in Hawaii with his girlfriend Selena Gomez.
That’s a grown man, Jason Lyric type grip he has on Selena right there.
Which leads me to ask, Are they the new Rihanna and Chris Brown (before it went downhill)?  When Chris hooked up with Rihanna, he was 18, she was  19 and they became the new teenage Hollywood “It” couple.  Chris had a few #1 songs under his belt, Rihanna as well.  Suddenly we were bombarded with paparazzi photos of the two accompanying each other around the globe, their matching tattoos and romps on the beach photos.  Rihanna and Chris didn’t openly confess their love for each other in public, as Justin (17) and Selena (18), but everyone knew what was up.
The only concern for this young love played out in public is the unnecessary pressure from the paparazzi and press but other than that, teenage love is adorable.

8 Messages We Loved From Oprah Winfrey’s Final Show

After 25 years on daytime television, it’s mind-boggling to think that Oprah has spent 4,561 days of her life on the Oprah Winfrey Show stage, chronicling the lives of thousands of guests, from the every day person to superstar celebrity. She’s battled issues such as substance, drug, domestic and child abuse. She’s given her viewers exclusive interviews and changed lives all over the world, not only through her own story of growing up in the backwoods of Mississippi but also through the trials and triumphs of strangers and familiar popular icons.
Earlier this week, she held her final show and Oprah literally turned the stage into Sunday service. She used her final hour to deliver a message that was powerful, inspiring and displayed true leadership. Here are eight notable Oprah quotes of inspiration on love, self-confidence, living life to the fullest, being responsible for your own decisions, humility, and much more:
On Learning What Love Is
“I am truly amazed that I, who started out in rural Mississippi in 1954 when the vision for a black girl was limited to being either a maid or a teacher in a segregated school, could end up here. It is no coincidence that a lonely little girl who felt not a lot of love, even though my parents and grandparents did the best they could, it is no coincidence that I grew up to feel the genuine kindness, affection, trust and validation from millions of you all over the world. From you whose names I will never know, I learned what love is. You and this show have been the great love of my life.”

On Being Worthy
“…We often block our own blessings because we don’t feel inherently good enough or smart enough or pretty enough or worthy enough. You’re worthy because you are born and because you are here. Your being here, your being alive makes worthiness your birthright. You alone are enough.”

On Embracing Life
Start embracing the life that is calling you and use your life to serve the world.”

On Being Responsibly for Your Life
“Nobody but you is responsible for your life. It doesn’t matter what your mama did; it doesn’t matter what your daddy didn’t do. You are responsible for your life. … You are responsible for the energy that you create for yourself, and you’re responsible for the energy that you bring to others.’Please take responsibility for the energy you bring into this space.’”

On Everyone Having a Calling
We are all called. Everybody has a calling, and your real job in life is to figure out what that is and get about the business of doing it. It lights you up and it lets you know that you are exactly where you’re supposed to be, doing exactly what you’re supposed to be doing. I want for all of you [...] to live from the heart of yourself. You have to make a living; I understand that. But you also have to know what sparks the light in you so that you, in your own way, can illuminate the world.”

On Never Feeling Superior to Anyone
I learned from the guests on this show, no need to feel superior to anybody. Because whether it’s heroin addiction or gambling addiction or shopping addiction or food addiction, work addiction, the root is all the same. The show has taught me there is a common thread that runs through all of our pain and all of our suffering, and that is unworthiness. Not feeling worthy enough to own the life you were created for. Even people who believe they deserve to be happy and have nice things often don’t feel worthy once they have them.

On Listening to God
“The only time I’ve ever made mistakes is when I didn’t listen. So what I know is, God is love and God is life, and your life is always speaking to you. First in whispers. … It’s subtle, those whispers. And if you don’t pay attention to the whispers, it gets louder and louder. What I’ve gleaned from this show: Whispers are always messages, and if you don’t hear the message, the message turns into a problem. And if you don’t handle the problem, the problem turns into a crisis. And if you don’t handle the crisis, disaster. Your life is speaking to you. What is it saying?”

On Being Rejected
“When we went national, I remember at the time, Roger King told me that one station manager said that he’d rather put a potato in a chair in his market than have a big black girl with a funny name. And in spite of that, from Memphis to Macon, from Pittsburgh to Pensacola, from New York to New Orleans, you all let me in.

Eve On Lil Kim’s Beef With Nicki Minaj: “She Needs To Stop. It’s Not A Good Look”

Eve is gearing up to release a new project soon, recently releasing a few new tracks with producer Swizz Beatz.  While speaking with Tim Westwood of BBC1 recently, she discussed her feelings on the ongoing beef between Lil Kim and rapper Nicki Minaj.
I need her to stop. If I was Kim’s friend, I’d be like, yo. Because she’s Kim, period, So she never has to feed. She shouldn’t. It’s bad. It’s not a good look. If I was her friend, I’d tell her, yo, just come back bigger and better. The best way to get at people is to do you better than you’ve ever done you. So that’s it…I love it. You know, it’s definitely a nice group of females that’s out representing, but because I come from hip-hop, I need more females in hip-hop.
Nicki definitely is holding the flag down, and a lot of people be wanting me to hate just because that’s how girls supposed to do in hip-hop, but I’m loving everything she does. But we need more females, man. There’s too much testosterone in the hip-hop game.
Ja Rule ,who is off to the big house next month, also weighed in on the beef, earlier this week.
I like Nicki, I know Kim. It’s f*cked up that artists in hip-hop go through that sh*t, because artists in pop and R&B and other genres [they] don’t go through that sh*t…[Kenny Chesney vs. Garth Brooks,] you don’t get that sh*t. You don’t have to disrespect another artist’s creativity — to better yourself or get ahead as an artist. I think Nicki and Kim, they can resolve that.
True Story!
And I know it sounds great but Nicki has done great collabs with Britney Spears, Rihanna, Kesha and she wants to do one with Beyonce.  If one of the rap chicks (like Eve) were to reach out to her today and ask her to do a track with them would she realistically do it in the name of camaraderie?
It would be a beautiful thing for Hip Hop…

Angela And Vanessa Simmons Cover 'Rolling Out' Magazine, Talk $70 Million ‘Pastry' Shoe Business

Angela and Vanessa Simmons are the latest cover story for an issue of Rolling  Out magazine and in it, dish on a number of topics including their love life, misconceptions from reality TV and their $70 million Pastry Shoe business.
Just last week the ladies further expanded Pastry by launching a ‘Barbie So In Style' collection with Mattel featuring a line of dolls decked out in Pastry gear.
Speaking on their lucrative business, the Simmons say they've learned their business savvy from their dad Reverend Run and Uncle Russell Simmons.
“Angela: They lead by example. We sit back and watch what they do. Overall, they teach us how to make smart business decisions. I'm only 23 and I'm still learning. It's impossible to know everything there is within the next couple of years. I just watch them. My uncle is such a stern businessman and I want to be just like that.Vanessa: Growing up around them, you take notes. We're really still learning. The company started with four shoes and now it's a $70 million company. If there is a big decision, I call my dad or uncle for advice."
The ladies also spoke on misconceptions people received from their “Run's House” reality show. According to Vanessa, at one point things got a little too intense and she was forced to shut down her Twitter account and shy away from the public eye. “
“Vanessa: I enjoyed doing the show because I got to work with my family and just goof off in front of the camera. But there are so many people in your life and that's kind of scary. After we finished taping “Daddy's Girls,” I had to go into my little shell. I had to renew myself. People were judging me on things that normal people do. I had to take time for myself. I deleted my Twitter and I don't go out as much. I'm just like everyone else; the only difference is that I'm under a microscope.”

Lil Wayne Making Music With Daughter Reginae

According to reports by Sohh, Lil Wayne's ex-wife Toya Carter revealed that Weezy has been hitting the studio with his 12-year-old daughter Reginae.
Reginae was once in the girl group the OMG Girlz, mentored by T.I.'s wife Tameka "Tiny" Cottle, but Wayne & Toya's daughter quit the group last year.
"Yes, Reginae is very talented," Toya said. "She is very talented, smart and wise beyond her years. And I know Wayne feels the same way, that she's a star. [Her future?] It's really whatever she wants to do. She been doing music with her dad lately. As long as she's doing what she has to do in school and making good grades, I'll support anything else."
No word yet on where or when any of the material Wayne and his daughter recorded will land.
Wayne's The Carter IV is due out on June 21, 2011.
Fans can expect the next single, "How to Love," off the album to be released later today.
Do you think Reginae has what it takes to stunt like her daddy?
