Magic Johnson Group Buys The L.A. Dodgers For $2 Billion
One Los Angeles institution is buying another.
A group that includes former Lakers star Magic Johnson and longtime baseball executive Stan Kasten agreed Tuesday night to buy the Dodgers from Frank McCourt for a record $2 billion.
The price would shatter the mark for a sports franchise. Stephen Ross paid $1.1 billion for the NFL’s Miami Dolphins in 2009, and in England, Malcolm Glazer and his family took over the Manchester United soccer club in 2005 in a deal then valued at $1.47 billion.
Mark Walter, chief executive officer of the financial services firm Guggenheim Partners, would become the controlling owner.
The deal, revealed about five hours after Major League Baseball owners approved three finalists for an intended auction, is one of several steps toward a sale of the team by the end of April. It is subject to approval in federal bankruptcy court.
“I am thrilled to be part of the historic Dodger franchise and intend to build on the fantastic foundation laid by Frank McCourt as we drive the Dodgers back to the front page of the sports section in our wonderful community of Los Angeles,” Johnson said in a statement.
As part of the agreement, the Dodgers said McCourt and “certain affiliates of the purchasers” would acquire the land surrounding Dodger Stadium, including its parking lots, for $150 million.

TMZ reports that the Taylor Gang leader splurged on a $900,000 crib in Canonsburg, PA, which is about 18 miles southwest of Pittsburgh. The hefty price tagged nabbed the haze friendly MC a modern, 5 bedroom, 4 bathroom house that tops out at almost 4,000 square feet.

Black Congressman Kicked Off The House Floor For Wearing A Hoodie In Support Of Trayvon Martin [Video]
#HoodiesUp for Trayvon Martin! Rep. Bobby Rush (D-Ill.) was thrown off the House floor Wednesday after wearing a hoodie and sunglasses in protest of the Trayvon Martin shooting in Florida:
“Racial profiling has to stop,” Rush said as he peeled off his suit jacket to reveal a hoodie underneath, at which point he pulled the hood over his head and replaced his glasses with sunglasses. “Just because someone wears a hoodie does not make them a hoodlum.”
Rush began citing passages from the Bible about the need “to do justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God” and about being “sent … to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and to recover the sight to the blind and to set the oppressed free …. I urge all men who hear these words to heed these lessons.”
Rep. Greg Harper (R-Miss.), who was presiding over the chamber at the moment, repeatedly hammered the gavel and tried to interrupt Rush, but he kept talking with a louder voice.
“May God bless Trayvon Martin’s soul, his family,” Rush shouted. He was still yelling as he was escorted off the floor by the House Sergeant at Arms.
Harper said Rush violated House rules by wearing a hoodie and reminded those in the chamber of the rules.
“Clause 5 of Rule 17 prohibits the wearing of hats in the chamber when the House is in session,” Harper said after Rush had been taken out. “The chair finds that the donning of a hood is not consistent with this rule. Members need to remove their hoods or leave the floor.”
We applaud Rep. Bobby Rush for showing support of Trayvon but do you feel like the tragic murder has somehow been dumbed down to an article of clothing? We understand that many people are wearing hoodies in support of the movement but it seems as of late, that this is all people are talking about instead of the bigger picture.
Iggy Azalea Hits Up The Gold Room With TI and Tiny
Rapper Iggy Azalea, who’s become known for her voluptuous Ass-ets and raw lyrics, was spotted at the Gold Room in Atlanta last night with TI and his wife Tiny to celebrate her new release, ‘Murda Business‘. The Australian-bred 21 year old recently told Complex Magazine, that even though some of her lyrics are overly sexual, especially in her song titled ‘P*ssy’, she doesn’t want to be known as the ‘Vagina Rapper’.
To a lot of people, a powerful, sexy woman is vulgar. When I first came out people said, she only raps about her vagina. I’m not a vagina rapper! [Laughs.] I talk about many other things.
She also admitted that Americans are more uptight than back home in Australia:
So much of what I do that’s controversial in America wouldn’t be a big deal back home. America is a highly sexualized society but people are afraid to admit what they like. When people tell me that I have to be sexy that’s demeaning, not powerful.

Allen Iverson Wants To Pull The Plug On Divorce After Sleeping With Wife
Allen Iverson has all types of problems these days, so it seems as though he decided he’d solve one of them by bedding his wife again.
Last June, his wife Tawanna took Allen to divorce court for the second time saying that the marriage was ‘irretrievably broken’ after he took $20,000 out of their joint bank account to buy some bling and stopped putting money in the accounts for her to take care of their kids. To make matters worse for Iverson, Tawanna filed papers just last week saying that she wanted the names and numbers of every person Allen had slept with or had intimate physical contact with during the 10 years that they were married.
Now, Iverson and his lawyers have come up with some papers of their own asking a judge to toss out Tawanna’s divorce petition because the couple had “resumed their marital relationship’ by cohabiting and having sexual relations as well as “holding themselves out as husband and wife” between the months of November 2011 and February 2012. Basically they were getting it in as husband and wife for three months, so Iverson believes the divorce should be null and void.
According to Iverson, that’s enough for a judge to throw out Tawanna’s divorce petition — on grounds the marriage isn’t “irretrievably broken” … as she had claimed.
It’s unclear if Iverson actually wants to get back together with Tawanna — the former NBA player’s legal move might simply be an attempt to delay paying support.
If hooking up with his ex really is A.I.’s way of getting out of paying child or spousal support, that’s deep. Back in January, a judge ruled to have his wages garnished to pay off a $900,000 debt to a jeweler, but don’t get it twisted, the brotha is far from broke. Or so he says…

Tiny and TI Throw A Sweet 16 Celebrity Bash for Daughter Zonnique, Gifts Her With A Porsche
Tiny’s oldest daughter Zonnique had a moment for life last night when she was thrown a huge Sweet 16th Birthday Bash in Atlanta. She arrived to the extravagant event with TI, Tiny and her brothers in tow and was carried into her party like a princess by four men. She spent the night partying around celebrities and friends that included Nelly, Christian Combs, Lil Wayne’s daughter Reginae, Diggy Simmons, Misa Hylton Brimm, her OMG Girlz bandmates and more with Giraffes and Camels that filled out the backdrop of the party.
If you are a frequent viewer of TI & Tiny’s VH1 show ‘A Family hustle’ you might recall Zonnique asking for two cars for her upcoming birthday. Last night, she didn’t get two cars but she was granted with a 2012 Cayenne Porsche and two small white Pomeranian puppies so we’re pretty sure there were no complaints about that.

The Miami Heat Show Support For Trayvon Martin
Lebron James and the Miami Heat are stepping up to show their support for Trayvon Martin, The 17 year old who was shot dead by a neighborhood watch leader, George Zimmerman, as he was returning home from the store unarmed. He was wearing a hoodie while carrying only Ice Tea and a bag of skittles, however the neighborhood watch leader thought he looked suspicious.
Zimmerman, has yet to be arrested for shooting Trayvon because he told police that he shot him in self-defense and is protected by Florida’s ‘Stand Your Grown’ law aka “Shoot First, Ask Questions later’.
Today, King James tweeted a photo of the entire squad wearing hoodies with the caption:

Dwyane Wade also changed his profile pic to one of himself in a hoodie and tweeted:
“#hoodies, #steretype #TrayvonMartin”
It’s still unbelievable that almost a month later, George Zimmerman has not been arrested for murder.
Trayvon Martin’s Girlfriend Reveals Details Of Their Phone Conversation Up To The Moment He Was Killed
We now know more about what happened to poor Trayvon Martin, the 17-year-old kid who was killed by a neighborhood watchman, George Zimmerman, while returning home from the store back in February. Police haven’t arrested Zimmerman yet because he claimed self-defense, but now the FBI and U.S. Justice Department are finally investigating the murder as a possible hate crime. The 911 tapes were released over the weekend which gave everyone just a taste of what really happened that night but ABC News got a hold of call logs on Trayvon’s phone that show he was talking to his 16-year-old girlfriend seconds before he was killed and she heard everything that happened firsthand.The girl would only talk to attorneys who recorded her statement and her parents won’t give out her name, but she said when she was talking to Trayvon as he was walking back home in the rain and he was telling her about this strange guy who was on a phone following him:
“He said this man was watching him, so he put his hoodie on. He said he lost the man. I asked Trayvon to run, and he said he was going to walk fast. I told him to run but he said he was not going to run.”
Trayvon did eventually decide to run but he was eventually cornered.
“Trayvon said, ‘What, are you following me for,’ and the man said, ‘What are you doing here.’ Next thing I hear is somebody pushing, and somebody pushed Trayvon because the head set just fell. I called him again and he didn’t answer the phone.”
After that the line went dead and it was just seconds later that Trayvon was killed.
On the contrary, when George Zimmerman called 911, he told police that Trayvon was acting funny, looked suspicious and seemed to be on drugs…now we know he was talking to his girlfriend and trying to figure out why a strange man in an SUV who was on his cell phone, was following him while he was trying to get home. He put on his hood because it was raining. He wasn’t on drugs, he was scared. And if there was some strange man, staring you down and following you in an SUV, you’d probably run to.
When Travon’s father Tracey Martin heard the girlfriend’s statement it gave him further proof that George Zimmerman needs to be in jail for the murder of his son.
“[Trayvon] knew he was being followed and tried to get away from the guy, and the guy still caught up with him and that’s the most disturbing part. He thought he had got away from the guy and the guy back-tracked for him.”
“When George Zimmerman is arrested, tried and convicted I will get a little rest.”
Meanwhile, his ex-girlfriend has been completely traumatized by what she heard and had to be hospitalized. According to the family’s lawyers:
“She couldn’t even go to his wake, she was so sick. She spent the night in the hospital. She is traumatized beyond anything you could imagine.”
Nicki Minaj Signs Multi-Million Dollar Deal With Pepsi
I guess I went commercial, just shot a commercial…
Nicki Minaj is raking in multi- millions in endorsements behind the scenes, according to Forbes. The Head Barb In Charge, who was recently snapped wrapping up a commercial in Argentina two months ago, has just signed a seven figure deal with Pepsi to become the face of the brand.
According to Glu Agency Chief Derek Jackson (the man who brokered the deal), Nicki will be endorsing a new Pepsi product called ‘Pop’ [hence the line 'Only Thing That's Pop Is My Endorsement Opp' in the song, Roman Reloaded]
You’ll see the commercial probably in the next two months, that’ll be a segue into a new beverage Pepsi has, called ‘Pop,’ and she’ll be the face of the brand … it’s going to be explosive.
Nicki isn’t the only one, snatching up a deal from Pepsi. Lil Wayne also worked out a seven-figure deal with Pepsi-owned Mountain Dew to launch a campaign titled DeWeezy. In his contract, which was the biggest in Mountain Dew history, Pepsi and Mountain Dew also agreed to pay for a film starring Weezy, which could be in the works.

Jay-z Working On $150 Million Comeback World Tour For Beyonce?
Strong enough to bear the children then get back to business…
Is it too soon for Beyonce to get back to work? According to the NY Post, Jay-Z is already working on putting together a massive comeback world tour for Beyonce just months after given birth to Baby Blue Ivy. Sources say that a few weeks after the baby was born, Jay-z approached his buddies at Live Nation to propose a $150 million deal for the mega star to go on tour later this year. Beyonce is currently in a joint management deal with Jay-z’s Roc Nation as well as Live Nation after she split with her father/manager early last year.
Whether the tour will actually happen is still up in the air with Live Nation allegedly making a lower counter offer, but until that moment arrives, Beyonce is returning to the stage in just a few months. Just in time to kick the summer off right, she’s performing three exclusive shows during Memorial Day Weekend live on stage at the Revel Resort in Atlantic City.
Tickets go on sale April 6th for dates May 25th, May 26th and May 27th.
Jada Pinkett Smith & Will Smith Show Off PDA @ 76ers Game
Divorce who?
Will Smith and Jada were all about that PDA this past weekend as they hit up a 76ers game in Philly with the kids. Jada, who’s been rocking a long mohawk lately, made sure she let folks know that flame is still burning as she kissed Will in front of thousands on the huge jumbotron at the game. Their kids, Willow and Jaden as well as Will’s mother Caroline were also spotted.
Tomorrow, Jada will release the music video to the song she wrote for Will titled, ‘Burn’ on facebook.
