LaLa & Carmelo Anthony have been spotted...together...for the first time in a while. With La's hectic career schedule and Carmelo fresh off a trip to China and ramping up his new clothing line (which he's rocking), the two seem to have been leading separate lives. But they decided to skip out on the MTV VMAs and chill out with Kiyan back in L.A.

Reality star LaLa, who just debuted her new clothing line 5th And Mercer, and her husband Carmelo seem to be getting back in the swing of coupledom.
The twosome were spotted arm and arm with their 6-year-old son Kiyan shopping it up at The Grove this weekend. Putting all those marriage-on-the-rocks rumors at bay....for now.

The fam also hit up Universal Studios together on Friday. And since Kiyan is back in school for the fall, La posted a pic of papa Melo going over his homework with him on Sunday morning:

Beyonce & Jay-Z, Rihanna WITH Drake & More At The VMAs Afterparty!

It was couples night at the VMAs afterparty at The Dream hotel! After the Award show wrapped at the Barclays Center, Rihanna and Drake were spotted on the rooftop pf the afterparty....together.

And Beyonce & Jay-Z popped up to join the VMA festivities. Pics of them, plus Jennifer Hudson, Rocsi and Jamie Foxx inside...
The Carters may have skipped out on the big show, but they rolled to The Dream hotel in Manhattan to party it up with their celeb friends late last night:

Bey looked fab in a navy dress with circular mesh cutouts down the side hem and a hot pair of ankle strapped heels. And Mr. Carter rocked his Timbs unlaced, jeans and a sweatshirt with his ROC chain.
But what's extra interesting....

We're told Rihanna and Drake were spotted leaving the same after party at The Dream Hotel minutes apart early this morning. But, the two former flames were definitely together at PHD Rooftop (atop the Dream) partying it up. Rihanna changed into a sexy sparkly little black dress and thought she was back home in Barbados carrying this drink outside.


And Drake covered his face as he ran out. You aint slick boo...

But he was pictured inside, snapping pics with "ET" correspondent Rocsi Diaz.

Eleven-year-old Carson Huey-You just became the the youngest person to ever attend Texas Christian University where he's studying quantum physics. And he's a YBF kid! Meet the little genius inside.....


CNN anchor Don Lemon might love this story since he's been spending the past few months debating whether young Black men should be held accountable for pulling up their pants. Meet Carson Huey-You, an 11-year-old who just became the youngest student at Texas Christian University. And today was his first day on campus.
So what makes young Carson so extraordinary? His mom (above), Claretta says he was intensely focused as an infant and was reading books by the time he was 2-years-old. At age 5, he was in high school. He also speaks Mandarin Chinese and plays piano. And if that isn't enough to blow your mind and make your Honors diploma seem pointless, he graduated from Accommodated Learning Academy in Grapevine (he was co-valedictorian) with a 4.0 grade point average and a 1770 SAT score!
He says he finds Calculus very relaxing. Yeah...relaxing. "Whenever you are like ‘Oh, that makes sense now,’ just kind of after going at it, going at it, it’s just kind of like that one moment of thought.”
He talked to CBS local about enrolling in college and what his experience has been.

“I’m taking calculus, physics, history and religion. Those are my four classes. It’s fun because it’s basically just like high school, but in a big campus…with a lot more people."

And the folks at TCU spoke about having Carson on the campus. Dean of Admissions Ray Brown said it was not easy to admit him, but they were set on him becoming a Horned Frog (the school's mascot).

"He was completely off the grid when it came to even the most basic of things, like completing an application or completing a financial aid form. Because of his date of birth, those forms would not accept his application."

Carson's associate math professor Qiao Zhang added, “He’s definitely very talented and also he’s very serious about his work and he really enjoys it. And that’s the best that a professor can hope for his students, right?”

Rapper Lil' Scrappy got "scrappy" with a man named Kenny Rogers (not the country singer) at a Georgia gas station yesterday after he disrespected his "BBW LA" girlfriend Bambi. Sigh.
According to TMZ, police were called to the gas station at 2:33 AM after Lil' Scrappy and Kenny got into a full-on altercation. The fight was broken up by an off-duty cop who just happened to be in the store at the same time. Both men were booked for disorderly conduct and Lil' Scrappy was released a short time later. As if Scrapy has room for stupid ish like this after JUST leaving jail recently.
When TMZ asked the rapper about the brawl, he said, "He was calling my girlfriend names and then put his hands on me ... so I had to lay them paws on him." This guy...
Scrappy's lawyer Mawuli Mel Davis says surveillance tape will prove that Scrappy was acting in self-defense.
Let's hope so. We wouldn't want Scrappy to violate his parole and there's no sense in going back to jail if Mona Scott Young has already shut down production for the summer....

BREAKING IT DOWN: Kendrick Lamar Finally Responds To The Responses, EXPLAINS Controversial "King Of New York" Line

Rapper Kendrick Lamar has broken down the meaning of "King Of New York" from his controversial "Control" verse and it may surprise you. Get the true meaning behind the phrase that set fire tot he internet rain inside.....

West coast emcee Kendrick Lamar's verse on Big Sean's "Control" record turned the hip hop community out this summer as lyricists from all over the country (pretty much everybody EXCEPT those who were namechecked) took up the challenge and answered back about who's the best MC. Though Kendrick shot numerous lyrical daggers, it was the phrase "King of New York" that really seemed to piss off other MCs.
During a recent interview with “Big Boy’s Neighborhood” on Power 106, Kendrick responded to all the drama, for the first time, and broke down the metaphorical meaning of the phrase.
He told Big Boy, "Honestly I didn’t know there would be so much speculation behind it. I just wanted to rap. Anybody that knows me doing music, I wanna just rap.”
He added that he didn't expect to cause controversy with "King of New York” because "I think that’s the case right there of maybe I just dumbed down my lyrics just a little bit."
So what did he mean by "King of New York"?

“The irony of that line is the people that actually understood it and got it, was the actual kings of New York. You know, me sitting down with them this past week and them understanding that it’s not about actually being the king of whatever coast. It’s about leaving a mark as great as Biggie, as great as ‘Pac.”

Oh ok then......that makes sense. And we're Team Kendrick for a reason.

‘Scandal’ Recap Special Precedes Season 3 Premiere

ABC will be running an hourlong recap special the same night the “Scandal,” season 3 premiere airs as a quick refresher for viewers, the network announced.
The special which is titled, “Scandal: The Secret Is Out,” will debut on Thursday, Oct. 3 at 8 p.m. EST and will be followed by the season premiere of Grey’s Anatomy at 9 p.m. EST, and the season 3 premiere of “Scandal” at 10 p.m. EST.
The second season finale concluded when Olivia’s biggest secret was outed and there was a shocking revelation about who her father was. The third season premiere will reportedly jump ahead only 22 minutes after she learned about the leak.
The network regularly puts together recap specials for its serial dramas, but it is unusual for the specials to lead off a season; they tend to occur during the season and replace a planned rerun.
The star of the series, Kerry Washington is nominated for a Primetime Emmy in the Lead Actress In A Drama Series category – her first Emmy nomination ever, and the first time a black actress has been nominated in that specific category since the 1994-1995 season, when Cicely Tyson was nominated for her work in the NBC legal drama series Sweet Justice.
Whether or not Washington wins will be revealed when the Primetime Emmys air on Sunday, Sept. 22, on CBS.

The Real Problem With Miley Cyrus as the ‘Ratchet White Girl’

Miley Cyrus has been the talk of the country after her bizarre performance at MTV’s 2013 VMAs, but the real problem here may run even deeper than the fact that Cyrus got her start with Disney.
Although she says she’s just trying to be herself, her raunchy behavior is still being deemed as trying to act black.
Ever since Miley started stripping down and twerking all over the Internet, her former fans and longtime critics have spread the word that little Hannah Montana is now trying to act like a black girl.
It was just a few days ago that Miley sent out a tweet in response to all the critics who say she needs to remember that she’s white.
“I know what color my skin is. you can stop with the friendly reminders b***h,” she tweeted out on Aug. 12.
Needless to say the tweet didn’t do much to stop the comparisons and the accusations that white stars who act out are just confused about their racial identity. Ouch.
In other words, only black women should be ripping their clothes off and shaking their butts for the world to see. The stereotype has shifted from “many black women are Jezebels” to “only black women are Jezebels.” That is a serious problem.
To make matters worse, ever since Miley began her campaign of twerking and having her tongue everywhere except in her mouth, the hip-hop community has embraced her.
So what does this say about the hip-hop culture that Miley didn’t mean much to them when she was Hannah Montana, but as soon as she began popping up with little to no clothes, she was also popping up in hip-hop music videos?

From an Instagram video with French Montana to starring in Big Sean’s “Fire” video, it seems that the hip-hop community is now obsessed with the “ratchet white girl.”
She’s even twerked her way into a shout-out by Jay Z on his “Magna Carta Holy Grail” album.
Of course, some people have a different perspective about what’s going on. According to recording artist B.o.B, Miley’s actions are perceived completely differently than they would be for a black woman.
During the VMA’s, B.o.B sent a tweet pointing out that Miley’s crazy dance routine was seen as “entertainment” while it’s often seen as being “ratchet” when black women do the same thing.
“When a black girl twerks, it’s ratchet,” he tweeted. “when a white girl does it, it’s entertainment.”
That may have been the case at one point, but Miley certainly doesn’t seem to be getting away with her latest performance.
While her online twerk videos received a more positive reaction than the twerk video of any black female celebrity, her last performance pushed the envelope too far and left viewers feeling uncomfortable rather than amused.
The question now is that as Miley’s crazy antics continue, will people continue deeming her the “ratchet white girl” when that phrase itself suggests that a “ratchet girl” isn’t supposed to be white?

J. Cole and Diddy Squash Rumors They Were Involved in a Fight

MTV’s Video Music Awards were over and done by Sunday evening, but there are still gossip tidbits lingering.
After the awards show, celebrities including Jay Z, Beyonce, Rihanna and Kevin Hart headed to The Dream in Manhattan. Rap mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs and J. Cole were also in attendance.
According to the New York Post, Cole was kicked out of the party for provoking Diddy into a brawl.
“J. Cole was saying inappropriate things to Sean Combs and his girlfriend, Cassie. Sean immediately pounced. Some pushing and shoving happened. No punches were thrown, but it was a visible disturbance. A few bottles splashed to the floor and some partygoers were knocked over, falling on top of Renee Graziano from ‘Mob Wives.’ ”
It is unclear what took place, if anything, but it was enough for both parties to address their fans on Twitter.
J. Cole kept it simple, “People believe everything.” His road manager Ibrahim was a bit more chatty: “The Internet is a crazy place you n*** reporting s*** with no facts. Cole ain’t get thrown out no party and he damn sure ain’t get beat up. Ain’t gon go into details about last night, but get the facts right first before you rush to report some s*** for some extra blog clicks.”
Later, Diddy posted to Twitter:
“I usually don’t address rumors but I got too much respect for my bro @JColeNC. We are friends. We just yell in public sometimes LOL #Fam.”

Karrueche Calms Chris Brown During Hawaii Trip For Music Video

Chris Brown was ranting on Twitter about the outcome of his community service trial, but a trip to Hawaii with Karrueche Tran by his side as he worked on a new music video seemed to be all he needed to calm down and move on.
It is said all it takes to make a guy a better man is to pair him up with a better woman, and that could very well be true for Chris and Kae.
Breezy’s bad boy antics were quite common while he was dating the R&B bad girl Rihanna, but whenever Karrueche is in the picture she is able to help Chris keep a level head.
The pair took off to Hawaii together and the “Fine China” singer struggled to stay focused with his gorgeous gal pal nearby.
Between shoots, Chris and Karrueche were inseparable as they were spotted cuddling and laughing. It’s the happiest most of his fans have seen Chris in a while.
It’s no surprise that the petite model was all it took to brighten up Brown’s mood, however, because she looked absolutely stunning.
Karrueche was wearing a baggy pair of pants with a polka dot bandeau and fashioned her hair into two cute buns. She completed the look with dramatic gold jewelry and quite frankly, looked more than stylish enough to be make an appearance in her boo’s music video.
Although she wasn’t spotted actually filming for the video, she made an effort to blend in with the Asian theme. While Chris was practicing karate moves and wearing dual katana swords strapped to his back, Karrueche’s double bun and red stripe of lipstick down the center of her lips channeled her inner Geisha-girl style.
Of course, the couple took advantage of their tropical location even when Chris wasn’t filming.

Brown and Tran were spotted out and about in Hawaii, just having a good time together. It appears his loyal “girlfriend” and the serene environment inspired Brown to have a more positive outlook on the 1,000 hours of community service he has ahead of him.
“I’m truly happy to have my fans and life,” he tweeted. “Even wt the bs. Can’t make a leader… They have to be chosen by the people. #iju love..”
“The community service isn’t a problem anymore,” he added. “I’ll do whatever duty I need to fulfill my requirements as a man and a leader.”
Needless to say, doing the community service should be less about him trying to prove himself as a leader (we’re still not convinced he even is one because Team Breezy doesn’t really count) and more about just helping the community.
His intentions may not exactly be in the right place, but his positive outlook on the situation is a lot better than the tweets he initially sent out.
“N**** done 6 months community service wit police and the DA racist a** crying to the judge that I didn’t do it,” he tweeted when he initially heard the ruling. “F*** the system!!”
We aren’t sure why he accused the Los Angeles district attorney of racism as she is an African-American woman herself.
At the end of the day Breezy might want to hold off on his “f*** the system” tweets, because that’s the very same system that kept him from spending the years behind bars that others have been forced to serve for committing the same crime that he did.

Rihanna Joins Drake For Dinner as She Prepares for Sexy Josephine Baker Movie Role

Rihanna had quite the exciting VMA weekend, although none of that excitement came from the actual show, as she joined her pal Drake for dinner and even began displaying a conservative yet still very fashionable side of herself.
Talk about a bizarre weekend. We’ve seen it all from Miley Cyrus twerking on Robin Thicke in a plastic nude bikini to Taylor Swift putting her ex-boyfriend on full blast as she accepted her award. But nobody was expecting to see RiRi emerge looking like a lady all of a sudden.
Rihanna was spotted out and about quite a bit over the last few days and every time she was seen, she was surprisingly covered up.
On Monday she was out shopping in New York wearing an oversized, brown smock-style dress with a simple pair of sneakers and her favorite silver chain necklace. Her nipples rings and butt cheeks were unusually out of sight.
The shopping trip didn’t last long, however, and before the photographers knew it Chris Brown’s ex had flagged down a taxi and hopped in.
This comes after her outfit for the VMAs was also surprisingly conservative. The white sleeveless top and cuffed denim jeans had RiRi looking just as stylish as ever, but also looking like a mature woman.
The impressive ladylike fashion sense didn’t stop there either. When she was spotted at the afterparty, she slipped into a dazzling fitted dress that was low-cut but still not revealing an indecent amount of her goodies.

Perhaps Miley Cyrus’ performance on stage served as a bit of self-reflection for the “Stay” singer, who saw another young woman acting and dressing the way she usually does.
Meanwhile, Rihanna will still be scantily clad in a movie role as she prepares to play jazz icon Josephine Baker in an upcoming biopic.
In the 1920s, Baker was known for her soulful tones and unusual fake banana tutu that often served as her only piece of clothing.
Needless to say we don’t think Rihanna will be the least bit uncomfortable about slipping into nothing but a banana skirt for the film – she should be pretty used to wearing little to nothing after she danced in the streets in a sheer monokini.
In addition to changing up her style, the songstress may be making some changes in her love life as well.
Amid all the rumors that the Bajan beauty and the YMCMB rapper Drake are dating, the duo actually met for dinner on Friday night.
Now before anyone begins finding strange ways to combine Rihanna and Drake’s names together (Rake and Drihanna just isn’t going to fly with us), it’s important to note that eye witnesses at the restaurant don’t believe the pair acted flirtatiously at all.
“They looked like they were just having fun,” one eye witness told Omg! “It didn’t seem romantic or overly flirty.”
As unusual as it sounds in the world of Hollywood, it is possible that Rihanna and Drake are just good friends who wanted to get a bite to eat together.
The music stars weren’t spending any alone time together either. Both Drake and RiRi brought friends along with them for the dinner and they arrived separately at the New York hotspot.
Of course, many fans swear that Drake is in love with the “Where Have You Been” crooner since he did get in a club brawl with Chris Brown over her, but you have to consider that sometimes men aren’t really fighting over a woman as much as they are just fighting for their pride.

Lamar Odom, Khloe Kardashian Have Tearful Reunion as He Moves Back Home

Lamar Odom has finally reunited with his wife, Khloe Kardashian, amid rumors about his serious drug abuse and crumbling marriage.
Khloe kicked Odom out the house last Wednesday, but only a week later he has been welcomed back into the home as Khloe refuses to give up the fight to help save him and their marriage.
The stress and possible drug abuse have taken a toll on the NBA baller because as he resurfaced from the nearby hotel where he was staying, he looked unusually thin and somber.
When he finally laid eyes on his wife, who has decided to stick by his side despite rumors of addictions and infidelity, Odom couldn’t help but burst into tears.
“He broke down, literally broke down in tears when he was with her yesterday,” one source close to the family said. “He has more shame than anything. Khloe held him and she cried too. It’s a sob fest.”
Of course, tears can only be expected after the mess the couple have been trying to push through together.
“He’s ashamed of himself and feels like he’s let a lot of people down,” the source added.
Both Khloe and Lamar kept their wedding rings on throughout the entire ordeal and reps from Odom’s team claim that the couple never legally separated nor did they have any plans to do so.

Jeff Schwatz, the NBA star’s agent, claims that Khloe is more focused on helping Lamar than ending their marriage and it appears that she’s ready to do whatever it takes to help him with his addiction.
Some sources, however, are claiming that the Kardashian wasn’t ready to welcome her husband back into the home, but the idea of divorce forced her to reunite with him.
Supposedly, the reunion is actually only coming after Odom threatened to file for divorce if he wasn’t allowed back into the home. None of that information has been confirmed and the only thing that seems clear is that Odom is back home with Khloe.
He was spotted pulling into the gated community that he and Khloe live in together and several witnesses claim they saw the entire emotional reunion.
Schwartz also claims that Odom was never missing despite what the tabloids reported. He said that Khloe knew exactly where her husband was throughout this entire ordeal.
All the drama in the couple’s marriage sparked after Khloe tried to stage an intervention for Lamar and he refused to even give it a shot.
Nobody is sure of exactly how long Odom’s serious drug addiction has been going on, but fingers crossed that he’ll get the help he needs very soon.

Obama Reviews Oprah in ‘The Butler’: ‘My Girl, She Can Act’

President Obama loved Lee Daniels’ latest film, “The Butler.“ More importantly, he loved his “girl” Oprah Winfrey in “The Butler.”
During an interview with radio hosts Tom Joyner and Sybill Wilkes at the Oval Office, the president said of the media mogul, “My girl, she can act.”
Another favorite for the president was Cuba Gooding Jr. According to the New York Daily News: “His favorite parts of the movie were the jokes by Cuba Gooding Jr., who played a member of the White House serving staff, and the president added, star Forest Whitaker ‘was wonderful’.”
Obama admitted he also shed a few tears over the story of Cecil Gaines, the African-American man who served countless presidents but endured discrimination throughout his lifetime.
After Obama’s 2008 election, many believed we lived in post-racial society, however the president stressed that the impact of Jim Crow was very real and opportunities are still lost for many today.
“An entire generation of people … were talented and skilled, but because of Jim Crow, because of discrimination, there was only so far they could go. It’s not enough just to have a black president,” he added, “The question is, does the ordinary person, day-to-day, can they succeed?”

L&HHA’s Rasheeda Leaves Hospital With Baby Karter, Says Kirk Is A Good Father

It’s been a rocky road for Rasheeda from Love & Hip Hop Atlanta after her husband Kirk told her to have an abortion on national television and then was caught creeping on the low. Lately, RaSheeda has admitted that things have been sticky and she’s been thinking about ending their 13-year-marriage, but the couple looked like one big happy family again as Freddy O snapped them leaving the hospital with their newborn son Karter earlier this week.
Speaking for the first time since she’s given birth, Rasheeda and Kirk dished to Hip Hop Weekly on the baby’s birth as well as being 100% real on television when it came to the issues in their relationship. RaSheeda also revealed that, no matter what you may see on television, Kirk will and always has been a good father.

Kirk on if he was on hand for the birth of his son
Yes. I was there from the very beginning. Rasheeda woke up one morning and said, “Oh, it’s time.” She just knew. She was cramping, etc. and she said, “it’s time to go.” I wasn’t nervous. It’s just that the baby came ahead of the due date, September 6, so we weren’t totally ready. We still had to put the bed together, etc. and get organized, but now, I’m excited.
Kirk on their issues being played out on television
A lot of people try to hide things and we chose not to do it. We were 100 percent real with it and let it be what it is. I think that people have to see me as a husband and a manager and a lot of them only see the relationship side. I did say the things and they were outrageous but at the end of the day it’s in God’s hands and He knows what’s best.
Rasheeda on working things out with Kirk
It’s an everyday thing. It’s a work in progress. When the child comes into play, it’s a feeling you can’t explain. Although a lot of things had been shown and seen, I already knew that when it comes to be a father, this would be a role that he’s always known to play. Things were put into perspective on television that he was not a good father but he’s a great father and my older son Kai is extremely happy to have this little brother. Ne-Yo PARTIES With Ex-Fiancee Monyetta Shaw, Adrienne Bailon And Luke James At East Hampton Charity Event + Willow Smith & Jaden Smith At Kylie Jenner's Sweet 16th Party

Singer Ne-Yo hosted a charity event in East Hampton this weekend where he partied with his ex-fiancee Monyetta Shaw, Adrienne Bailon, Luke James and more.  See the pics inside and check out Willow and Jaden Smith partying with Kylie Jenner for her 16th birthday.

Last night, Ne-Yo and his charity, the Compound Foundation, honored Academy award-winning actor Louis Gossett Jr. and celebrity photographer Johnny Nunez at their 2nd Annual “Fostering A Legacy” Benefit. The private function celebrated the strength and creativity of youth in foster care.

Neyo (shown above with honorees Stuart C. Snyder, Johnny Nunez and Louis Gossett, Jr.) spoke about this year's event saying,

"I truly admire Louis Gossett Jr. for his bold initiative to adopt his son when he was in need. Johnny Nunez, who has been an advocate of our cause for years and Stuart Snyder, an active supporter of the foundation, are both well-respected individuals who we cannot thank enough. It is only right we honor these extraordinary men at this year’s benefit."

The event was co-hosted by actor/comedian Kevin Hart who had a very successful summer with his film Let Me Explain. 

The event was attended by some of young Hollywood's most talented stars including Ne-Yo's artist Ravaughn Brown, Adrienne Bailon, and singer Luke James.  

Singer Bridget Kelly was also among the attendees.  She posed with Kevin, Adrienne and Ne-Yo.

BET executive Stephen Hill was spotted posing with Bridget, RaVaughn, Adrienne and Estelle.

Ravaughn, who's been in the studio working on her debut album with Ne-Yo, was on the evening's entertainment lineup.

"Call These Boys" singer Estelle entertained the audience a few of her hits.  She also posed with fellow singer Mario. 

It's great to see that Monyetta and Ne-Yo are still greap friends since their breakup.  She posted several pics of herself partying with her friends and tweeted, "Hampton Nights at the Compound Foundation Event w/ great company @adrienne_bailon @eyesofbk @itsravaughn @t2dawy @vonsmith1 Whoop!Whoop! #giveback #grownandsexy"

  

And in Los Angeles.......

Willow and Jaden Smith were seen at the AT&T Center yesterday.

The two were there to celebrate the 16th birthday of their friend (and Jaden's rumored girlfriend) Kylie Jenner.   

     

Kylie's big sister Khloe Kardahsian was seen arriving at the party (which carried an Alice in Wonderland theme) with her bff Malika Haqq.

And for the record, Khloe has changed her Twitter icon to a pic of her and Lamar Odom.  It looks like rumors of a split aren't true.....
