Dirk Nowitzki and his new wife Jessica are an example of how to make an multi-cultural wedding arrangement work.
Earlier this month, rumors surfaced that the Dallas Maverick forward wed his girlfriend Jessica Olsson in a traditional Kenya ceremony with plans to have a second wedding
in Germany for his family. Photos have now surfaced of the bride and 7
foot groom, dressed in traditional Kikuyu garments, during the ceremony. According to reports:
The short version of the Kikuyu wedding, that is meant to announce to the community that the daughter is engaged, provided relatives from both sides with an opportunity to get to know each other and conclude ruracio (dowry payments) discussions. When a couple goes through the ruracio phase, their wedding is officially recognized by customary laws.Check out a few pics below
The bride, Jessica was also presented with a kiondo (handwoven bag) by elderly kikuyu women. She had to demonstrate how she would go to the market and shop for her husband. Later the couple together with the guests danced to mugithi tunes
