It’s that time again!
Every year, the fashion elite gussies up, puts on their absolute best designer outfits and descends upon the steps of The Metropolitan Museum of Art for its annual fundraising gala. While last year’s theme called for punk, this year’s dress code called for vintage looks inspired by the glamour of the ’40s and ’50s, and it was all in honor of British-born designer Charles James who became known as “America’s First Couturier.”
There was a lot of risk-taking on the carpet this year.
Rihanna was Miss Solo Dolo as she arrived alone in a white Stella McCartney crop top and skirt combo. [One of the best dressed of the night!]
Janelle Monáe spruced up her signature black-and-white look with a red and black dramatic cape courtesy of Tadashi Shoji.
Braided beauty Gabrielle Union wore a feathery Prada outfit, while Zoë Kravitz painted the town red in a custom Topshop dress. The blond bob is giving Zoë some serious hooker tease.
Fashion darling Lupita Nyong’o channeled Josephine Baker in a flapper dress from Prada.
Kim Kardashian definitely did a 180 from last year’s fashion fail. This year, Kim rocked a flattering navy blue Lanvin dress, and she looked absolutely stunning. Kanye looked clean in a Lanvin coattail.
Beyoncé definitely took a bit of a risk this year in this Givenchy creation. So far she has been named best dressed by Vogue, Forbes, Yahoo and US Weekly.
The icon wore a black, sheer number from the fashion house and matching black veil, while her hubby Jay Z opted for a Givenchy suit.
Cosmo Magazine pointed out that David Beckham, Frank Ocean and Jay Z were triplets last night in their white blazer/black pant/black bowtie suit combos.
End of an era? Dressed in a sherbert-colored Phillip Lim dress, afro diva Solange debuted a cute pixie cut.
La La Anthony arrived in a purple Cushnie et Ochs cutout dress, alongside Carmelo Anthony.
Chanel Iman channeled Old Hollywood in a Topshop gown. Her rumored fiancé A$AP Rocky matched her fly in a Topman suit.
Erykah Badu rocked Givenchy while giving Pharell a run for his money with her top hat.
Rita Ora followed the this year’s theme with her glamorous golden Donna Karan gown. Although she landed on a ton of worst-dressed lists this morning, this was actually one of our favorite looks for the night.
