Oh you’re having a bad day? Try having a bad 30 days because that’s what Naya Rivera seems to be dealing with.
Just weeks after it was announced that her engagement to Big Sean ended, she has been allegedly fired from Glee! Rumor has it that Naya and the show’s other star, Lea Michele, were beefing so heavily behind the scenes that they got into a major cat fight on April 15 and Naya was subsequently let go. And if that wasn’t bad, now comes reports she’s been dropped from Columbia Records!
The actress/singer was signed by the label in 2011 and released the track “Sorry,” with Big Sean last year. Though the track received tons of publicity due to Naya name-dropping Sean’s exes on the record, it failed to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 and Columbia has dropped her from their roster.
Billboard has confirmed this with various sources, however, Naya’s reps are saying these are all rumors and a part of a smear campaign to ruin her reputation:
Any rumors or statements made as fact, that Naya Rivera was fired or let go from Glee or dropped from her recording contract, are categorically false. Someone obviously has an agenda to damage Naya’s good name and the media are failing at their duty to responsibly vet their sources and verify what is true and what is not. Naya’s attorneys are prepared to take any and all legal action to enforce and protect her rights.
Still, Billboard is sticking with the story. They say they verified Naya’s status with various sources and they all say the same thing: She’s no longer with the label. She’s also been removed from the Columbia Records website.
As for Glee, Naya’s allegedly been written out of the season finale that’s scheduled to air May 23.
Hopefully things get better for her. They say April showers bring May flowers.
