While rapper Wiz Khalifa prepares for the March 22 release of his Rolling Papers album, the Pittsburgh rep is being recognized in a major way.
As previously reported, his standout single “Black And Yellow” went platinum with over 1 million downloads and skyrocketed his name to mainstream fame.
Now MTV is announcing that the 22-year-old is up for “Woodie Of The Year”, a honor given to the best artist of the past 12 months during their Woodie Awards ceremony.
Along with Wiz, B.O.B., Arcade Fire, The Black Keys and LCD Soundsystem are up for the Woodie as well.
Additionally Woodie award nominees are Kanye West, Lil B, Die Antwoord, Yelawolf and Das Racist who are up for the Left Field Woodie," handed out to the year's "most original artist."
MTV's Woodie Awards will air live on Wednesday, March 16 at 12am (Live ET/ Tape delayed PT) on MTV, MTV2 and mtvU live from the South By Southwest Music Festival.
