Winning: ‘Let Me Explain’ – Kevin Hart Banks Again at Box Office

Premiere Of Summit Entertainment And Code Black Film's "Kevin Hart: Let Me Explain"
Kevin Hart is a big deal. After surprising Hollywood with his debut concert pic Laugh at My Pain, the comedian-actor has done it again with his follow-up flick Kevin Hart: Let Me Explain.
Deadline had this to say about the box-office performance of Kevin Hart: Let Me Explain:
[The film] received an ‘A’ CinemaScore from audiences and opened with a solid $4.7 million from only 876 dates Wednesday.
It’s yet another surprisingly strong debut (including $1.1 million from Thursday late shows) from the standup comedian’s rabid and rapidly growing fanbase in the cheapest film of the Fourth of July field.
Hart seems to have a knack for flipping his performances into a multimillion dollar-generating films, despite micro-budget backing.
Kevin Hart: Let Me Explain was filmed live at NYC’s Madison Square Garden, which was one leg of the No. 1 urban comedy tour of all time, generating over $32.7 million in ticket sales. Hart’s Hartbeat Productions produced the film alongside Codeblack Films, a Lionsgate company.
Deadline reported “it cost $2.5 million, underwritten by Hart and Summit paid no advance and only reasonably for marketing. Pic’s $5,422 per screen average Wednesday was the 2nd highest average among all films.”
Hart is really doing his thing, but it may get even better.  The July 4 weekend usually starts out slow because people are out barbecuing and watching fireworks.  It will be interesting to see how well the comedian does over the five-day weekend.
