Accounts of domestic violence,
don't always involve a female victim, sometimes men end up getting
hurt. A Pennsylvania woman ruined her own wedding when she allegedly took the life of her groom, on their wedding day.
Na Cola Darcel Franklin is accused of stabbing
36-year-old Billy Rafeal Brewster to death in their Whitehall Township
apartment, hours before they were to exchange vows, Saturday (Aug. 11).
The couple got into a fight the night before the wedding, which turned
violent when Franklin stabbed Brewster twice, before they were pulled
apart by family members.
Police were called to the residence at 2 a.m., the wedding was scheduled for 10 a.m.
Brewster was bleeding from his torso, and taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A preliminary autopsy confirmed Brewster sustained two stab wounds, which punctured his heart.
Franklin was taken into custody the same day, and arraigned later in
the afternoon. She could not believe what she had done, and during her
taped appearance in front of a judge demanded an investigation. "You got
to check again!" she reportedly told District Judge Donna Butler.
Once she was asked if she understood the charges brought against her,
the 31-year-old wept and said "I ... did ... not ... kill ... him ...
on ... purpose," between her tears.
Since first-degree murder charges require intent and premeditation, Franklin has instead been slapped with criminal homicide.
