22-Year-Old Russian Heiress Buys Most Expensive Apartment Ever Sold In NYC… Is It Really Worth The $88 Million She Paid??

Inside the Most Expensive Apartment Sold In New York City History
Even the uber-rich go a little too far sometimes. This isn’t one of those times
This is the living room of a unit at 15 Central Park West in Manhattan that was recently purchased by 22-Year-Old Ekaterina Rybolovlev for $88 Million. That’s $40 million more than the apartment that held the title of the most expensive apartment sold in NYC before this one. But there is a positive twist.
The previous owner of this four bedroom, five bath apartment was Sandy Weill, the man who built Citigroup, Inc. Since he clearly doesn’t need any money, the almost 70-year-old Weil announced last month that he would be selling this apartment for $88 Million and donating the every last penny he made on the house to Charity. Maybe he wouldn’t have made that promise if he’d known someone would have actually coughed up the dought.
Ekaterina is the daughter of Russian billionaire Dimitry Rybolovlev.
He is the 93rd richest man in the world (with a net worth of $9.5 billion). He served 11 months in jail for allegedly ordering the murder of another businessman (he was later acquitted because of lack of evidence). The “fertilizer kingpin” famously made his wealth buying industrial concerns in the early 1990s during Russia’s “wildly unregulated privatization period.” Oh, yeah, just in case his name doesn’t ring any bells, he’s the Russian mogul who took Donald Trump to the cleaners.
In May 2008, Rybolovlev purchased Trump’s Palm Beach mansion, Maison de L’Amitie. He paid $95 million in cash, which was much less than what Trump was asking ($25 million less, to be precise). Apparently, the final transaction between the the Donald the Fertilizer Kingpin resulted in Trump making the largest single residence price concession of all time.
Must be nice. We’re glad this ridiculous extravagance will serve a good purpose though. Flip through and check out exactly what that $88 Million got the Rybolovlevs.

Charles Barkley Says Fans Will Be Hatin’ Kobe Bryant…”They’re Gonna Be Cruel And Shouting Isht At Him”

charles barkley kobe bryant
Charles Barkley keeps it 100 when he says, “”You keep your wives and girlfriends away from each other.”…
Kobe Bryant may be going through a tough separation from Vanessa Bryant, his wife of a decade, but don’t expect his fans to be sympathetic, says retired NBA star Charles Barkley. “I really like Kobe; I wish him all the best,” Barkley, 48, said Tuesday on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. “But of course the fans are cruel. They’re going to be shouting stuff at him. He’s going to have to deal with that.”
The tartness, Leno points out, could stem from Bryant’s alleged infidelities. “That’s never good for a team,” Barkley says of the gossip. “You keep your wives and girlfriends away from each other. I’m just telling you, that’s never positive.” Regardless of fan taunting or the end of his marriage, Bryant, 33, will survive, the NBA Hall of Famer says. “He’s so strong, mentally,” Barkley says. “I think he’ll be fine.”

Indonesian Girl Swept Away By Tsunami Reunites With Family… Seven Years Later!

Indonesian Family reunited after Tsunami
Miracles really do happen… A young girl who was believed to have been killed by the 2004 tsunami that claimed thousands of lives reunited with her family in Indonesia this week.
A girl who was swept away in the Indian Ocean tsunami seven years ago said Friday that she broke down in tears this week after tracking down her parents, who had long lost hope of finding her alive.
Fifteen-year-old Wati showed up at a cafe in Meulaboh, a town in Aceh province, earlier this week saying that not long after the wave hit she was found and “adopted” by a woman who forced her to beg in the streets, sometimes until 1 a.m.
When she stopped bringing in money, Wati was kicked out by the woman. She then set out to find her family, but had very little information to guide her — only the name of her grandfather, Ibrahim.
AP
Fifteen-year-old Wati, second right, poses for a photograph with her father Yusuf, right, Friday.

Someone at the cafe tracked down a man by that name, and the man — unsure if it was actually his granddaughter — quickly summoned her parents.
“When I saw my mother, I knew it was her. I just knew it,” said Wati, who was given that name by the woman who found her. Her original name is Meri Yuranda.
The Dec. 26, 2004, tsunami that killed 230,000 people in a dozen nations hit Aceh — closest to the epicenter of the magnitude-9.1 quake that spawned waves 30 feet (10 meters) high — the hardest.
With tens of thousands of bodies never recovered in the province, many people continue to cling to hope of finding lost loved ones, putting up fliers or ads in newspapers.
Reunions, however, are extremely rare and, when they occur, rarely confirmed.
Wati’s mother, Yusniar binti Ibrahim Nur, 35, said she did not need a DNA test to prove the girl was hers.
“She has her father’s face,” she said, adding that she had stopped believing she would ever see her daughter again. “Then I saw the scar over her eye and mole on her hip, and I was even more sure.”
Wati and her father had different accounts of what happened on the day of the tsunami.
The girl says she remembers her father putting her into a boat with her sister, who is still missing and presumed dead. The father says that before the family was separated, he put both of his daughters on the roof of their house.
What a heartwarming story. It’s such a shame that people are so foul sometimes, if she was able to find her family with that little bit of information just imagine if the woman who’d found her was more kindhearted — she could have been back home long ago!

Buju Banton To Be Released From Jail Over Technicality???

Buju Banton Could Be Released From Jail Over Technicality
Laaaaaad Gyaaaad!!!
Reggae star Buju Banton, now serving a 10-year sentence on drug-related charges, could be freed due to a blunder on the part of the United States government.
According to the website examiner.com, under the United States law, Buju Banton — whose real name is Mark Anthony Myrie — should have been brought to trial before 70 days. This is a right guaranteed under the Sixth Amendment.
The media report states that the government may have violated the Speedy Trial Act. The act refers to one of the rights guaranteed by the United States Constitution to defendants in criminal proceedings. The right to a speedy trial, guaranteed by the Sixth Amendment, is intended to make sure that defendants are not subjected to unreasonably lengthy incarceration prior to a fair trial.
In judging speedy trial claims, the US Supreme Court has developed a four-part test that considers the length of the delay, the reasons for the delay, the defendant’s assertion of his right to a speedy trial, and the prejudice to the defendant.
Violations of the act, such as where the state has failed to bring the case to trial for an ‘unreasonable’ length of time, may be a cause for dismissal of a criminal case.
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: gotta love this justice system. But hey: salute to Buju. Now if they let you out and you find a way to go back…

TANZANIA: UN offices among premises affected by floods

Dar es Salaam. The United Nations, whose offices are located on Mafia Street in Kinondoni, is among institutions that were affected by floods which hit Dar es Salaam since Tuesday.Spot checks by The Citizen yesterday established that many of the staff at the offices were given a day off to allow servicemen to pump water which had submerged the building out of the premises.

A handful of UN staff were yesterday seen inside the compound cleaning the premises and counting losses from the disaster which has devastated Dar es Salaam and affected services.

The security guards at the gate could not allow our reporters to access the offices. The few workers who were outside the offices declined to talk to reporters on grounds that they were not allowed to comment on the situation.

When asked why the government could not provide UN with offices in area which was not flood prone, the minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr Bernard Membe, directed our queries to the permanent secretary.Efforts to reach the permanent secretary, Mr John Haule, did not bear any fruits as he was attending a crisis meeting called by the Prime Minister, Mr Mizengo Pinda.

When this paper got back to Mr Membe, he said it was the UN which had the duty of asking the government for decent accommodation if it felt that the current premises were unfit to host its activities.“I can’t comment much on this issue because I am in my constituency in Lindi... but it is the UN which is supposed to ask us for office accommodation if their current premises are not suitable,” he said.

But available information indicate that UN has been allocated the current space as an alternative while efforts were being made to find a more suitable place for the international organisation.Sources from within the Foreign ministry hinted that the government was waiting for assessment being conducted by experts before approving the new offices for UN, which would house all its agencies under the One UN Programme.

“They need to consult with New York and their security departments as well as disaster management units before relocating to any other place,” the source said.

Drake Speaks On Fan Tattoo, Threatens Tattoo Artist

Drake Speaks On Fan Tattoo, Threatens Tattoo Artist
Another day, another publicity stunt. The digital world went crazy when a Drake fan tweeted a photo of herself, eyebrows shaved and all, with Drake's name tattooed on her forehead in bold letters.
In a recent interview with LA radio station Power 106, Drizzy was asked if he had seen the photo and what he thought about the fans display of admiration. The Young Money protege didn't find it too flattering, going as far as denouncing the tattoo artist responsible.
“I want to meet her and understand what happened," Drake said earnestly. "The guy who tatted is a f*c&ing a*s^ole though, I will tell you that. I don't f*%Ck with that guy. F*^k  you to that tat artist by the way. And you should lose your job and should never do tattoos again," Drizzy said in disgust of the artist Kevin Campbell.
"If I ever see you, I'm a f*^ck you up. But real sh&*t  though, I really like…I want to talk to this girl and understand it all. It's surreal.”
Campbell himself expressed disdain over his own work, admitting that the idea was simply stupid.
"She was really psyched about it. She had the sh*#tty font all picked out on her iPhone ready to go and was pretty adamant about putting it on her forehead. I'm not really sure how much extended coherent thought could actually go into getting such a stupid tattoo on your forehead.”

Big Tigger Fired On His Birthday

Big Tigger Fired On His Birthday

WPGC's Morning Show with Big Tigger and Free is no more.  Yesterday (December 22), Tigger confirmed reports that the he and the Washington, DC station had agreed to part ways via his Twitter account.
Tigger started with WPGC nearly 20 years ago as an intern, and worked his way through the ranks.  As one of the more popular radio and television personalities, Tigger will surely be missed in the DMV area.  In a memo, WPGC's New Program Director, Jason Kidd, wrote:

"I want to let you know that Tigger will no longer be hosting mornings on WPGC. Tigger has been a huge part of WPGC over the years. He started as an intern at PGC back in 1993 and eventually moved into nights in 1996.  He came back later in the 2000s for afternoons and then, most recently, mornings. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”

Tigger will surely land on his feet, and most likely find his way back to television.  With MTV bringing back Yo! MTV Raps, it only seems fitting for BET to counter and bring back Rap City: The Basement. Guess we'll have to wait and see

Drake (Feat. Lil Wayne & Tyga) - The Motto

HBO Cancels 'How To Make It In America'

HBO Cancels 'How To Make It In America'
Despite showing promise after a couple of seasons, today HBO announced that it is canceling 'How To Make It In America.'
The series followed the exploits of Ben Epstein (actor Bryan Greenberg) and Cam Calderon (Victor Rasuk), a pair of savvy NYC fashion designers on the come up who are steadily looking for their big break.
The now canceled show's Hip-Hop roots ran deep. Besides it's New York City backdrop, the cast also featured Kid Cudi, who's character Domingo Brown was getting significantly more screen time this last season. Also,  Clipse member and G.O.O.D. Music solo rapper Pusha T also made cameos on the small screen during its second, and now last,  season. The show's soulful theme song, "I Need A Dollar," became a hit for Cali singer (and rapper) Aloe Blacc.
According to Deadline Hollywood, the shows 'Hung' and 'Bored To Death' were also canned.
Should 'How To Make It In America' have been given more time to develop?

Floyd Mayweather Pleads Guilty To Domestic Violence Charge

Floyd Mayweather Pleads No Contest To Battery Charge
Money Mayweather is known for beating up people in the ring, but this week he got decision in his favor.
According to The Associated Press, 50 Cent's  partner in crime plans to plead guilty to reduced misdemeanor charges in a plea deal resolving felony allegations that he battered his ex-girlfriend, court officials said Tuesday.
Money Mayweather will face $3,000 in fines and could be sentenced to between two days and 18 months in the Clark County jail after pleading Wednesday to one count of battery domestic violence and two harassment charges.
Mayweather, who seems to be a picking boy for frivolous  lawsuits, also conceded to a victory over a dispute with his homeowner association's guard.
Mayweather's deal also includes him pleading no contest next week to misdemeanor battery and paying a $1,000 fine for poking a 21-year-old homeowner association security guard in the face during a November 2010 argument about parking tickets on vehicles outside the boxer's home in an exclusive, suburban Las Vegas community.

Report: The War Is Over, Last US Troops Leave Iraq

The IRAQ War is finally over.. or so they say..
After nearly nine long years, CBS News reported last night that the war in Iraq is officially over as the last U.S. troops left the country shouting and cheering as they crossed the border into Kuwait. President Obama said early on in his term that it was his mission to pull troops out of Iraq, bring our soldiers home and end the war that took at least 4,500 American (32,000 wounded) and 100,000 Iraqi lives (possibly many many more). Almost $800 billion later, the question still remains: what’s going to happen to Iraq now?
Saturday evening, president Obama welcomed the troops home during his weekly radio and internet address, saying that it was their service that says a lot about the character of America.
“There’s a reason our military is the most respected institution in America. They don’t see themselves or each other as Democrats first or Republicans first. They see themselves as Americans first.[...]For all our differences and disagreements, they remind us that we are all a part of something bigger, that we are one nation and one people.”
“Our troops are now preparing to make their final march across the border and out of the country,” Obama said. “Iraq’s future will be in the hands of its own people.[...]This is a moment for us to build a country that lives up to the ideals that so many of our bravest Americans have fought and even died for. That is our highest obligation as citizens. That is the welcome home that our troops deserve.”
Whether the country will remain an ally is up for debate, seeing as how it’s been five years since the execution of dictator Saddam Hussein, but U.S. officials remain confident that the introduction to democracy will keep relations with the Arab country. Capt. Mark Askew was one of the last soldiers to leave Iraq, and says that everything hangs on what the country does within the next few years.
“It depends on what Iraq does after we leave. I don’t expect them to turn into South Korea or Japan overnight.”
We took to our facebook with the news last night and received some mixed reactions:
M. Fletcher wrote:
My dad served 2 years in Iraq and I’m married to my soldier, he has to deploy to Afghanistan but so blessed the Iraq war is over, its a start!

E. Jones wrote:
This is true they are letting troops home early everyone in Iraq should be home by the end of this year I know because i am the military meaning my dad served 26 years of it and is now retired and my husband is in the military there for Ive been around it all my life so i know the ups and downs, i know about deployments. my sister in law is in the army and she was supposed to be home in Feb. but guess what she’s home early so obama kept his word and is doing the right thing. i appreciate that because it’s been a looong time coming. slowly but surely our fellow Americans will be home soon.

S. Frankling wrote:
Funny how obama claimed he’d bring them all home within 16 months. This is just a tactic to score some support in time for the election. Anyway it’s BS. Sure some soldiers came home, but did you also know that we replaced them with 20,000 private security contractors who are being payed triple what the soldiers were getting? Do the research before you start celebrating.
One thing’s for sure: this may be the most memorable holiday season in years as thousands of families welcome home members that they haven’t been able to spend time with in years. To the families and friends of the 4,500 who won’t be coming home, our deepest condolences go out to you.
We thank all of our troops, from the bottom of our hearts, for courageously serving our country. Welcome home!

Maliah Michel Dishes On Drake Break Up & Dating Sean Kingston

Model and exotic dancer Maliah Michel has been a topic of discussion ever since Drake started name dropping her in songs after she appeared in his ‘Find Your Love’ music video.  Although her time with Drake was short-lived, she recently fell into the arms of another singer, Sean Kingston, which created some buzz after the two appeared on the American Music Awards red carpet together.
Maliah recently called in to the ‘The Autumn Joi Live Show’ on  Elite DC Radio and spilled the tea on what happened with Drake and how she ended up with Sean Kingston. She also revealed that no one’s getting her cookies right now as she is very picky when it comes to who gets to sweat on top of her.
On what she did to Drake to make him say he doesn’t date dancers anymore
I don’t know actually; Drake and I had a really great relationship sharing a really close bond. I don’t know if people really realized that. I’m really picky about the guys that I date because in the industry the guys are so cocky, whether it be a ball player or a rapper, they just don’t know how to respect you or come at you in a certain way. With Drake, he was always a gentleman, he was really sweet and he cared for me. He was great.
On what happened between her and Drake
Honestly, from what I heard it was ….it’s always this way with dancing and that’s why it’s so hard for dancers to take relationships seriously because everything is fine when it just fun but once the guy starts to really care about you, oh, it’s his friends. “You don’t understand her career” but it’s like ‘I don’t know, do you think you should be going this far?” People get in their ear; it never fails. It can be a regular Joe on the street or an entertainer.
As dancers we always get slack once the guy starts to care about you and want to take things a step further.
What’s going on with you and Sean Kingston?
Sean is really a cool guy! Actually the first time we ever hung out was for the AMA’s. He called me and asked me to be his date and I was like, “Wow, okay, cool.” I was really shocked and ever since then we’ve just been cool. He’s great. It really bothers me that all the blogs are like “Is he hitting that?” and it’s like “Gosh, can we get to know each other?” Seriously, are people really just jumping up and screwing without nothing? I really feel like I need to know the person that I’m dealing with and that takes time.
Are you celibate now?
Yeah, I’ve been celibate. It’s not by choice though; it’s just that I’m picky. I’m picky about my shoes and they go on my feet. I’m going to be REALLY picky about a man that’s going to be on top of me and sweating on me.
Could you see Sean Kingston possibly being on top and sweating on you?
Ummm… a little. I really appreciate that he tries and goes out of his way for me. He’s not ashamed of me and I love that. So you never know.
Any final words for Drake?
No love lost. Everything happens for a reason and I appreciate the time we had.

Sanaa Lathan Responds To Reports That She Was Backing It Up For Kobe

Sanaa Lathan found herself thrown in the hoopla of the whole Kobe Bryant and Vanessa divorce this past weekend when the New York Daily News published that she was backing it up for the NBA Star last Tuesday (before the divorce was filed) at the Watch The Throne Concert. An eye witness told the newspaper, that ‘She touched his face, and she was shaking her a– in front of him to the music’ throughout the night.
According to our source, Lathan, 40, who’s the voice of Donna Tubbs on “The Cleveland Show,” came to the concert with a girlfriend, and Bryant, 33, who was with teammate Matt Barnes and a bodyguard, were initially seated on adjacent couches in the club-like friends-and-family VIP area behind center stage. Kim Kardashian , Beyoncé and Jake Gyllenhaal were among the other celebs in attendance.
Eventually, Lathan and Bryant ended up standing next to each other, and that’s when our source said the actress, who was drinking champagne, became progressively more flirtatious with the NBA star, who stuck to soft drinks, presumably because he’s in training. Lathan, attired in a sexy white-chiffon dress over what appeared to be a black bra, was “whispering in his ear” and at one point stroked the ballplayer’s face. “It seemed like a pretty intimate gesture,” says the source.
At one point she left her seat and when she came back, she made sure she was standing next to Kobe again,” says the source She also danced to Jay-Z and West’s performance in front of Bryant.
“She was throwing her head everywhere. Her hair was like slapping him in the face,” laughs the source, who adds that at one point, one of the straps of Lathan’s dressed slipped enticingly off her shoulder. When West performed “All of the Lights,” Bryant and Lathan danced together.
Despite all of Sanaa’s seductive gestures that the witness allegedly saw, they revealed that Kobe seemed extremely “moody” and “down,” and the two went their separate ways after the concert.
Sanaa Lathan, hopped on twitter earlier today and admitted that she was at the Watch The Throne concert having fun (ie. dancing it up) but she’s not involved with Kobe.
Can a girl have some fun at a jayz/kanye concert w/out being linked 2 a breakup? I AM NOT, NEVER HAVE BEEN, INVOVLED W/KOBE IN ANY WAY.
Anybody who pays attention knows I’m not his type… Blank stare. #blackgirlsrock #dontbelievethelies
Woop!
According to one of our twitter followers, Sanaa and Kobe were in VIP along with Lauren London, Khloe and Kim Kardashian, Matt Barnes, Big Sean and Drake and Kim and Kanye West were spotted giving each other a mean stare down. Keep an eye out for Kim and Kanye in 2012 *sips tea*

P. Diddy & Cameron Diaz Spotted Making Out

Oh boy… Is P. Diddy really smashing Cameron Diaz?
According to the New York Post, Diddy was spotted cuddled up and tonguing down actress Cameron Diaz this past weekend while lounging at the Dream Downtown Hotel in New York. The two were allegedly making out like teenagers while popping bottles with close friends until the wee hours of the morning. They say two wrongs don’t make a right but there is only one wrong in this equation as Cameron broke up with Alex Rodriguez a few months ago. Diddy, however, still has ties to his dime piece Cassie.
This wasn’t a one night thing either. Recent Cam/Diddy spottings include dinner at Seafood hot spot Catch Roof on October 24th followed by a stroll through Washington Square Park. Weeks later on November 11, the two dined at Scarpetta restaurant in Beverly Hills.
According to an ‘insider’, the Diddy/Cameron relationship is still in the early stages and is ‘not exclusive’. Translation: Friends with benefits. Cam is also using Diddy to get over her relationship with Alex without having any ties. She’s just ‘having fun’.
Meanwhile, people thought Diddy would be knocking down J. Lo’s door after she ditched Marc Anthony…
