Will Smith Likes President Obama’s ‘Higher Taxes On The Rich’ Idea

Will Smith has pretty much endorsed President Barack Obama for his 2012 campaign. The actor, who is one of the highest paid stars in Hollywood, is supporting the President’s position for higher taxes on the country’s richest citizens.
Last week while out promoting Men In Black III, the star spoke on why he supports the President’s tax raise. “I’m very supportive of that idea,” Smith told the Associated Press in an interview. “America has been fantastic to me. I have no problem paying whatever I need to pay to keep my country growing.”
The President has proposed that everyone who earns at least $1 million a year pay at least a 30 percent income tax rate. Research analysts have reported that the change would affect around 210,000 taxpayers.
Will Smith was reportedly paid over $20 million for Men In Black III. That means he would have to pay at least $6 million dollars in taxes on that money.  But is that fair?

Martin Lawrence Files For Divorce From Wife

Martin Lawrence and wife ShamikaComedian and actor Martin Lawrence has filed for divorce from his second wife Shamicka Gibbs after two years of marriage. According to TMZ, Lawrence and Gibbs wedded in July of 2010, but Martin filed for divorce over the weekend citing “irreconcilable differences.”
The couple has two daughters who are 9 and 11. The Bad Boys actor is seeking joint-custody of their children, however a spokesperson for Lawrence says that the decision to split was mutual:
“The couple has made the joint decision to part ways. Out of love and respect for one another [they] will continue to remain friends and raise [their] two beautiful daughters together.”
Lawrence and Gibbs, who dated for 15 years before their marriage, reportedly had signed a prenuptial agreement before exchanging vows, so separation of assets is expected to go smoothly.
Lawrence had previously been married to former Miss Virginia, Patricia Southall, with whom he has a 16-year-old daughter. Martin was also engaged to Saved by the Bell actress Lark Voorhees at one time.

Russell Brand To Host MTV Movie Awards

Russell Brand will lead the 2012 MTV Movie Awards. Today, the network announced that the 36-year-old actor/comedian has signed on to host the show.
“This MTV Movie Awards will be more impressive than The Avengers, and you won’t have to wait an hour for someone to Hulk out,” Brand said Thursday.
In the past, Brand hosted the MTV Video Music Awards, which may have helped him land lead roles in comedy films such as Get Him to the Greek, Arthur and Rock of Ages, (which will be in theaters this June). This is the first time he will be hosting the MTV Movie Awards.
He is “such a brilliant talent,” said executive producer Jesse Ignjatovic, who worked with Brand on the VMAs. “He brings the funny but he also has that rock ‘n’ roll aesthetic.”
The leading contenders for this year’s awards are The Hunger Games and Bridesmaids, which have eight nominations each.
The show airs live at 9 p.m. ET on June 3rd.

John Travolta Appears In Public For The First Time Since Sex Scandal

John Travolta has stepped out for the first time in public following a series of shocking claims about his private life. Some weeks ago, the veteran actor had been hit by scandalous accusations including that he had a “secret six-year gay affair with his pilot.”
The Pulp Fiction actor has allegedly been hiding out at a vacation home in the Bahamas since being accused of gay sexual misconduct from numerous male masseurs. Thursday night, Travolta popped up on stage in Los Angeles to honor actress Shirley MacLaine, as she received the 40th AFI Life Achievement Award.
Looking calm and relaxed he said: “Several years ago, Warren Beatty was talking about a young actress. And I said to him, ‘What was she like?’ And he said, ‘She filled the room with presence like I’ve never seen before.’ And I said, ‘You know your sister, Shirley? She fills the room with presence’. She fills the world with presence like no one I’ve ever seen before. And that’s my Shirley. And I love you.”
Travolta has been hit with two lawsuits over the sexual allegations and has hired attorney Marty Singer to battle the claims.

Kim Kardashian to Oprah: We Don’t Do Anything For Ratings

Kim Kardashian told media mogul Oprah Winfrey that her 72-day marriage to Kris Humphries was not an act to boost ratings. Kim K used the first part of a two-part interview with Winfrey to reiterate to fans that she entered the ill-fated marriage with the best of intentions.
“I was in love. I wanted the life that I always pictured my fairytale life to be,” said Kardashian. “We have an amazing fan base. We don’t do anything for ratings.”
On Oprah’s Next Chapter, Kim Kardashian explained to the queen of media that everything was great in the beginning of her relationship with NBA forward Kris Humphries. But once the two love birds decided to move in together, the happy nest fell apart. “I don’t want to get into the small things,” said Kardashian, “but once we moved in, I knew he was not the one… I didn’t spend more than a whole week with my ex before we married.” The curvaceous television personality made sure to conceal Humphries’ name in the interview.
“I will always have a place in my heart for him,” she admitted to Winfrey, but was adamant about the professional athlete not being the one for her. Despite their differences, she insisted that the New Jersey Net hooper is a good person.
Kardashian had no idea that her marriage would fail, but every one else around her questioned her decision the night before the wedding. “Do you want out? You’re not yourself,” her mother said on the wedding’s eve. Boredom in the bedroom may have attributed to the couple’s break up but Kim K stresses that there were other reasons why the romance ended.
Kardashian also told Winfrey that she suffered from emotional distress due to the media’s verbal attacks on her and her short-lived marriage. With so many onlookers believing the hitch was a fake, her quickie marriage became a punchline for pop culture. The star was constantly bashed, damaging her brand. Kim K was no longer as “real” as her reality television show depicted, sending her into a whirlwind of depression.
“I was in such a deep depression I thought I was going to back away from everything,” she told Winfrey. “I stayed at home for almost four months.” Her four month leave from the public eye was an attempt to heal the pain she dealt with after the separation. She was devastated by her decision to cut things off with Humphries. Devastation soon turned into embarrassment, forcing her to consider bidding adieu to the spotlight.
But Kardashian stood strong in the midst of backlash, dubbing the 72-day coupling as a life lesson and not a mistake. One of the lessons she said she’s learned is how to keep things moving in a positive direction between her and hip-hop heavy-hitter Kanye West. “I always dated five years younger,” said Kim, who is now 31. “My whole thing is completely different, and now I just love that I’m with someone that’s a couple years older than me.” Kanye West is 35, a tasteful four years older than the Armenian bombshell.
“For anyone I hurt, I’m truly sorry,” Kardashian said to her fans. “I don’t wish pain on anyone, but [I am the] person I am because of that crazy experience, I wouldn’t change it for the world.”
Kim K posted a picture of her standing alongside the television icon to her twitter account. She then tweeted, “Ummmm no big deal Oprah just left my house! #DreamComeTrue” Part 2 of Oprah’s Next Chapter with Kim Kardashian will air this Sunday on Winfrey’s OWN network.

Charlie Sheen Calls It Quits From Acting

Charlie Sheen is planning to make his exit from acting after he completes his contractual obligations for FX’s Anger Management. The 46-year-old actor said he wants to devote more time to his five children.
“When I’m done with this business it’s just going to be about soccer games and amusement parks. And when this ends, I’m done. This is my swan song,” said Sheen to the the New York Times.
The former Two and A Half Men actor went on to explain why he’s so bored with his acting career.
“I’ve been doing this 30 years. And there’s a lot more out there to do than make-believe, you know?” he added. “I mean, I’m grateful. I’ve got a dream life as a direct result of television, you know? But at some point you just get tired of wearing somebody else’s clothes, saying somebody else’s words and working in somebody else’s space.”
Sheen was fired from Two and A Half Men after a  public meltdown where he blasted show creator Chuck Lorre.
Apparently the veteran actor doesn’t expect much from his latest project. “You’re only supposed to have one hit show, unless you’re Kelsey Grammer,” he told the paper.
But don’t expect Sheen to disappear from TV anytime soon. His Anger Management deal with FX calls for the show to be renewed for another 90 episodes if the first 10 are successful.

Kevin Hart Lands New Movie Role In ‘About Last Night’ Remake

Actor Kevin Hart has signed on to star in the upcoming remake of About Last Night.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Screen Gems is remaking the 1986 movie and Kevin Hart is the first actor to be cast. The comedian will take on the role, which was first played by Jim Belushi in the older movie. About Last Night starred Rob Lowe and Demi Moore.
The first film was centered on the play Sexual Perversity in Chicago. It told the story of a man and woman who try to make their relationship work despite interference from their friends.
The new concept will be based on the same synopsis from the first movie, which reads:
“Danny and Bernie are two single men living their lives on the wild side. But when Danny meets Debbie at a bar and the two start a relationship with a one night stand, Danny’s life takes a different turn. How does this passionate night become a full affair and what effect will this relationship have on both people and their friendship with their best mates?”
Hart’s credits include Think Like a Man; The 40 Year Old Virgin; Scary Movie 3; and The Five-Year Engagement. The comedic actor’s career is very promising at this time.
There is no director yet attached to About Last Night but it will be written by Leslye Headland.

Matt Damon May Return In ‘Bourne 5′

matt damon
The prospect of Matt Damon returning to The Bourne franchise is looking really promising, especially if  Bourne producer Frank Marshall has things his way.
Marshall — who’s produced all four of the action movies which include The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum and upcoming The Bourne Legacy — told Empire that he would like to see Matt Damon team up with current Bourne star, Jeremy Renner in the fifth installment of the franchise.
“You see there are several different programs in the movie with different skill sets. All possibilities are open. My dream is that in the next one we see Matt and Jeremy team up.”
But what would the return of Jason Bourne look like now that Jeremy Renner appears comfortable as the new lead in Bourne Legacy?  Renner plays Alex Cross, a former military man who, unlike Jason Borne, made the choice to become a CIA assassin. The fact that Damon’s and Renner’s characters are very different definitely makes a “Jason Borne meets Alex Cross” scenario more encouraging.  In addition, the fourth installment reportedly takes place around the same time as Ultimatum, making it more of a ‘paraquel’ than a sequel.
On the other hand, if Matt Damon — who was seen in a rare public feud with Bourne mastermind Tony Gilroy back in December — isn’t interested then Marshall, and presumably many Bourne fans, shouldn’t hold breath.  However, Damon did hint that he would be game for another run with the franchise.
“I think if [Bourne Legacy] doesn’t work, we can just ignore it and pretend it didn’t happen, and that’d be fine. But I expect that it will work and only help us if we did another one, which I’d love to do.”
The Bourne Legacy, which also stars Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Joan Allen and Oscar Isaac, hits U.S. theaters August 10th.

R. Kelly Owes Nearly $5 Million In Unpaid Taxes

R.Kelly doesn't appear to be strapped for cash, but for whatever reason he refuses to settle his tax debt. The “It's On” singer owes Uncle Sam $4.85 million in back taxes, for bills dating back to 2005.
Kellz, skipped out on a $1.5 million tax bill in 2005, and owes money every year thereafter until 2010. Rather than go the Lauryn Hill route and release a letter explaining himself, according to his rep, he plans on just settling his debt. "R. Kelly is in the process of working everything out with the government and is confident that all his obligations will be satisfied."
Despite dropping his Love Letter album two years ago, and prepping the release of  his Write Me Back album later this month, the father of two constantly finds himself in the news for not paying his bills. Last year  he was exposed for failing to pay the mortgage on his 11,000-square-foot Chicago mansion, and was hit with a $2.9 million foreclosure lawsuit.

Latino Actor Giancarlo Esposito Becomes Victim Of “Stop-And Frisk" Policy

Actor Giancarlo Esposito is the latest of many minorities to have become the focus of racial profiling by the NYPD. Esposito, who co-starred on the cable series Breaking Bad, revealed in an interview that he was frisked by NYPD officers while leaving a theater where he was in rehearsals for a play.
According to reports, officers screamed at Esposito and drew weapons, before realizing that they had mistaken him for someone else. One officer was said to have recognized him from the ABC drama Once Upon a Time.  “I refuse to walk around, carrying that sack of racist crap,” Esposito said, refusing to give too much detail on the incident.
New York is in the midst of adjusting the controversial policy, which has long targeted Blacks and  Latinos. Despite the accusations of racial profiling, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg recently expressed his support or “stop-and-frisk”  noting that he believed that the practice should be “mended, not ended.”

California Files Tax Lien On Former NBA #1 Draft Pick Chris Webber

Not you too C. Webb!? The State of California has filed a $119,000 tax lien against Chris Webber for failure to pay taxes from part of 2008 and all of 2009, reports TMZ.
The Fab 5 member and former #1 NBA Draft pick initially owed $81,427 but that ballooned thanks to  $25,875 in penalties and $11,629 in interest.
The Detroit native currently works as an analyst for NBA-TV and TNT. Fans recently caught throwback footage of Chris Webber playing against the 1992 Dream Team in the NBA TV doc The Dream Team. Webber, along with primetime players like Jamal Mashburn and Grant Hill were part of the select team of college players chosen to play against the Dream Team.
This where we mention Webber dropped a rap album in 1999 called 2 Much Drama and has also placed his production on not one but two Nas joints ("Blunt Ashes," "Surviving the Times").
Webber seems to be doing well enough financially so hopefully this could be a case of a misplaced bill. We hope.

CNN's Don Lemon Blasts Reporter For Interrupting President Obama

CNN host, Don Lemon, is blasting a fellow journalist, for interfering with President Obama's speech at the White House, last week. The Daily Caller reporter, Neil Munro, found himself on the POTUS' bad side, for interjecting while he spoke on immigration.
Munro denied that his actions were disrespectful, sidestepping comparisons to journalist Sam Donaldson during his days as a White House correspondent. “Never once did I interrupt a president in any way while he was making a formal statement, a speech, honoring awardees or in any other way holding the floor,” Munro claimed. “What this man did yesterday is something new, to me wrong and unusual.”
According to Lemon, Munro's actions were undoubtedly out of line. “This is America...we pride ourselves on civility,” he started. “We also respect the Office of the Presidency just as we respect the courage of a man or a woman who dons a uniform to fight for our country. As a journalist, I know there are ways to get my questions answered. It may not always be on the timeline I want, but there's always a way to do it. And Mr. Munro interrupting to leader of the free world at the White House in front of an international audience is not the way.”

Mississippi Man Files $6 Million Slander Lawsuit Against K-K-K Member

A Mississippi man is seeking financial compensation from Ku Klux Klan member Edgar Ray Killen, for slander and defamation. In the suit, filed in the Hinds County Circuit Court Monday (June 19), James Stern, states that Killen, plus Killen's wife and lawyer, seek to ruin his reputation with statements made about a land transfer, and book and movie rights.
Stern served time with Killen at the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman, and would converse since their cells were  near one another. During his time behind bars for mail fraud, Stern claims that Killen admitted to taking part in civil rights killings, and signed over his power of attorney right to his lawyer and wife. Stern was hoping to turn his conversations with Killen into a book and movie deal, and alleges that the reformed Klansman “unexpectedly signed over the deed to his 40-acre property,” to Stern's nonprofit organization Racial Reconciliation. One of Killen's lawyer, Rover Ratliff is crying foul, telling the media that Stern has no right to the land.
In short, Stern claims his character was defamed by Ratliff, when he accused him of taking advantage of the 87-year-old who is serving  60-year sentence, and suffers from a brain injury.
According to Stern all three parties involved “have made public remarks that are totally untrue, with evil malicious harmful intent to do the reputation and character of the plaintiff unrepairable harm.”
While he is acting as his own lawyer, Stern told the Associated Press that he will drop the suit, if Ratliff apologizes.

Even though the tour is a wrap (for now), Meek is still on the road with Drake. As previously reported, the Philly rapper was believed to have been involved in the melee involving Drake and Chris Brown, that left several people injured. He has since denied allegations that he took part in the altercation, revealing that he and Brown are friends and spoke with one another after the incident.

Kristen Stewart Is The Highest Paid Actress In Hollywood

At 22, Kristin Stewart has surpassed the likes of Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Aniston, Cameron Diaz and a host of her other Hollyweird veteran peers to take the top spot on Forbes’ highest paid actress list.
It’s no surprise that the success of the Twilight movies has made Kristen Stewart a pretty penny, but is she Hollywood’s biggest salaried star?
That’s the word from Forbes, which ranked her at the top of its annual list of highest-paid actresses with a whopping $34.5 million in earnings over the past year—just barely surpassing Cameron Diaz who came in second with a $34 million haul. And Breaking Dawn Part 2 isn’t even out yet!
So who knows what Bella Swan’s alter-ego will collect once box-office returns come in for the mega-franchise’s fourth and final film. Between May 2011 and May 2012, Stewart was paid $12.5 million for each Breaking Dawn entry along with a share of the backend.
The remainder of her income came from Snow White and the Huntsman, which has so far grossed $246 million worldwide since its release 17 days ago.
