Heidi Klum and Seal Announce Split

Another day, another celebrity divorce…

It may have seemed like an odd pairing at first. But after seven years of matrimony, Seal and German supermodel Heidi Klum had become the poster-couple for Hollywood’s interracial marriages. Now, after days of speculation on if their marriage was hitting the rocks, the couple have confirmed that they have decided to separate.

Who even knew they were even having problems? Seal and Heidi have renewed their vows every year in a lavish ceremony, and it seemed like Heidi was pregnant every other season of “Project Runway.” Then, who can forget the duet they did at the 2007 Victoria Secret Fashion Show? Their love appeared to be everlasting, and they have been recognized as one of the strongest relationships in Hollywood.

In a joint statement released yesterday, they told People Magazine:

“While we have enjoyed seven very loving, loyal and happy years of marriage, after much soul-searching we have decided to separate.

“We have had the deepest respect for one another throughout our relationship and continue to love each other very much, but we have grown apart. This is an amicable process and protecting the well-being of our children remains our top priority, especially during this time of transition.

“We thank our family, friends, and fans for their kind words of support. And for our children’s sake, we appreciate you respecting our privacy.”

Seal proposed to Heidi on top of a 14,000-foot glacier in Canada December 2004; shortly after she had given birth to the couple’s first child whom Heidi conceived during a previous relationship. [The day that she announced she was pregnant, a photo of her ex kissing a jewelry heiress circulated in the press. Horrible, but months later Seal came to the rescue like a knight in shining armor]. This was a first-time marriage for Seal, 48, and a second for Heidi, 38. They have four children: Leni, 7, Henry, 6, Johan, 5, and Lou, 2.

What we’ll miss most about their relationship are those perfectly coordinated, theatrical Halloween costumes they put together every year for Heidi’s annual Halloween party, including the apes this year. They looked so fun together.
