After being sentenced back to jail for 11-months, T.I came face to face with Joshua, the young man he helped save from jumping off of building last week.  He also stopped by the Ryan Cameron show on Atlanta’s V-103 to talk about everything from lessons learned, how the latest jail sentence will change him, his family, and why he made the record “Get Back Up“:

I have been in a position to see clearly how fast the public will throw you away. They would rather see you suffer then to see you shine. My actions have been unacceptable, inexcusable, but I don’t see them as unforgivable. But I have been approached by the public in such a way that my actions are unforgivable. One bad move, one bad decision has discredited all the good, which I don’t think is right. Especially when all the people that are judging and pointing the finger at me, are doing as bad, if not worse than me, without doing as much good as me. It’s a lot more in the world to frown up on than T.I. It’s a lot more to be upset at rather than me and my circumstances.

On how he plans to change for the better

One thing I’m not going to do is get out here and talk and make a lot of promises. I’m gonna speak more through my music and my actions. I’m gonna let God lead me wherever that might be.

On admitting to having substance abuse problems

At least now I know of these issues. The main thing about having a problem is knowing that you have one. Now that I know, I can go and get help resolving those issues. I don’t think a lot of people take into consideration my circumstances prior to me becoming T.I. Where I came from, and how I got here. All things considered, even all the things that have gone wrong with me, pale in comparison to all the things that could have gone wrong with me. I don’t think that is being considered as much as it should be. Everything I’ve learned is trial and error, getting locked up and then “Okay, I know not to do that anymore”. My rap sheet is all lessons that I have learned and the corrections that I have made in my life.

How he plans to address his supporters before his sentence

I’m more concerned about my family. We are such a close family and whatever we go through, me make it as a family. We always have, and we always will. This is no different.

Also, the attempted jumper Joshua sat in on the interview and it seems like he’s doing much better. He looks like he’s in better spirits. T.I was asked what advice he would give to anyone that might be going through the same situation as Joshua was and thinks that they can’t go on anymore;

It gets better, if you’re willing to put time and the effort and the energy into making it better, or if you’re willing to lay back long enough for it to get better, it can and it will get better. But if you interfere with that process by removing yourself permanent from the circumstances, then you don’t allow it to get better. You got to be present to be
