Nicki Minaj Thanks The President For Understanding Her Sarcasm On Mitt Romney

What are we going to do with Nicki Minaj?

With the upcoming election drawing near, any stance on politics can draw up a sensitive reaction, especially when you are someone of influence who is going against the majority.  [Or at least who people think you should be voting for.]

Last week, Lil Wayne dropped his mixtape, ‘Dedication 4′ and Nicki Minaj ruffled up some feathers after she spit a verse on “Mercy’ which made it seem as though she was endorsing Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney:

“I’m a Republican voting for Mitt Romney/You lazy b-tches is f-cking up the economy.”

Although Nicki Minaj probably didn’t think much of the line when she agreed to do the mixtape track, her comment was blown up to epic proportions in the media, with even the President commenting on what she had said. In an interview with Orlando’s Power 953, he alluded that he didn’t take what she said very serious and that it was probably one of her “characters”:

“I’m not sure that’s actually what happened. I think she had a song on there, a little rap that said that, but she likes to play different characters. So I don’t know what’s going on there.”

Meanwhile, Nicki Minaj has been hush-hush about the whole thing until she heard that the President actually talked about her in an interview. She jumped on Twitter to thank him for understanding her “creative humor and sarcasm” while giving a shout out to her “haters”:

“Ha! Thank you for understanding my creative humor & sarcasm Mr. President, the smart ones always do… *sends love & support* Awesome! Now I can tell my grandchildren that the 1st black President of the United States took the time to address a Nicki Minaj question. Thanks haters! Lmaoooooooooooooooooooooooo. #BarbzWinAgain ahahhahaahhahahahahhahahahhahahahahhahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Here’s the issue. Yes, she may have gotten some publicity out of the deal but although it may have been just sarcasm on a mixtape, Nicki may have forgotten how much influence she really has over her audience and people in general. If she’s voting for Romney, let her vote. That’s her personal choice. We can’t slam someone who doesn’t have the same political stance because it’s a free country.’ But when it’s just sarcasm which ends up getting blown out of proportion in the press, that can turn into another story.

Politics are very serious especially with the upcoming election drawing near. With each party attempting to convince voters that they are the right person to take office, when you drop someone’s name out of sarcasm, it has to be understood that there are people that will not be able to tell whether you are endorsing that person for office or not.  This is definitely a valuable lesson to all entertainers and people with some sort of influence, however, Nicki Minaj isn’t completely at fault. The fact that some are getting their political knowledge and may choose who they are voting for based on some Nicki Minaj lyrics on a Lil Wayne mixtape, proves there may be far bigger issue to worry about.
