Beyonce & Jay-z Fundraiser Raises $4 Million For President Obama

Guest List. Obama plus 40.
Jay-z and Beyonce has gotten their fair share of criticism over the past year from people who felt as though they didn’t do enough in the community, but they definitely stepped up to the plate this week in support of President Barack Obama.  Last night, the power couple raised over $4 million dollars for the Obama campaign by hosting a fundraiser dinner at Jay-z’s 40/40 Club which cost a whopping $40,000 a plate for attendees.  A few Obama supporters who wanted to go but didn’t have that type of money, received an email last week from Beyonce offering them a chance to attend if they donated just $9 bucks to the Obama campaign by midnight.
While guests enjoyed dinner, the President applauded Beyonce for being a role model to his daughters while joking about the things he has in common with Jay-z:
Beyoncé couldn’t be a better role model for our daughters because she carries herself with such class and poise  and has so much talent. And Jay-Z now knows what my life is like. (Laughter.) We both have daughters, and our wives are more popular than we are. So we’ve got a little bond there. It’s hard, but it’s okay.
Obama’s DJ (yes..he has a DJ), also had kind words to say about the couple for openly endorsing the President and showing support by raising money for his campaign:
I think it sends an important message for Jay-Z and Beyoncé to throw this fundraiser … that it’s important for people that support the president to actually support the president. I know that Jay-Z and Beyoncé had gotten some flak recently for not supporting their community. I think this just goes to show that they do support their community. I think that people should put their money where their mouth is. DJs across the country, artists across the country, no matter what kind of artists they are, it’s one thing to support it and just talk about it, but it’s another thing to actually go out there and do something.
