Mariah Carey was hospitalized late Sunday in New York after suffering multiple injuries on the set of a video shoot.
Carey and husband, Nick Cannon—who is directing the video, were filming the scenes for a remix of her song “#Beautiful” with rapper Young Jeezy.
New York Post reported,
“Mariah, 40, was filming the video in NYC at Avenue and Artichoke Pizza in Chelsea. She was taken to a hospital in the Upper East Side for special surgery. The accident may have been due to Mariah taking a tumble in her heels.”
Reps for the Grammy-winning artist told HollywoodLife.com,
“Mariah injured herself while filming a video with Jeezy for the remix of #Beautiful, directed by her husband Nick Cannon. She was taken to hospital late last night, where doctors reset her shoulder. She is fine.”
Nick Cannon elaborated on the injuries on the Today show earlier this morning, “It was pretty serious. Not only did she dislocate her shoulder, she actually cracked a rib and …..she chipped her shoulder bone.”
Cannon added, however, that Carey refused to let him join her in the hospital. “She’s a trooper. I was going to rush to the hospital with her, (but she said) ‘You get back in here and finish that video!’ Then, after they put her shoulder back in place, bandaged her all up, she came back to the video early in the morning and finished out everything.”
Carey will perform Saturday with the New York Philharmonic on Central Park’s Great Lawn for the 2013 MLB All-Star Charity Concert to benefit Superstorm Sandy victims.
