Alicia Keys and Michelle Obama Join The #BringBackOurGirls Campaign

The #BringBackOurGirls campaign is getting bigger every day, and celebs like Alicia Keys and First Lady Michelle Obama have joined in to both draw international attention to the missing 200+ Nigerian students who were all kidnapped from their school by a militant Islamist group nearly a month ago.  As we mentioned before, the Nigerian president has been under heavy scrutiny for not doing enough to help find the girls, but since the girls’ disappearance is now drawing international attention, he is doing a 180.
He assured:
We promise that, wherever these girls are, we’ll surely get them out.
But it looks as though things will get worse before they get better. Since our initial post on the kidnapped students, more girls have been abducted. And now the group’s leader is claiming responsibility and revealing his plans for the abductees.
Sunday night, members of the Boko Haram reportedly kidnapped eight more girls from their homes in attempt to stop them from going to school. On Monday, Boko Haram’s leader also released an hour-long video claiming responsibility for the brazen abductions and confirming plans to sell the girls, while threatening more mayhem.
I am the one that took your girls. Are you the one that created the girls? I will sell them in the market. I have my own market of selling human beings. It is Allah, the owner that instructed me to sell. I will sell the girls.
Just because I took girls in Western school they are worried. I say they (the girls) should desert the school. They should go and marry. Stupid people. Talking about human rights and democracy. Nonsense. People that are doing same sex marriage and saying they are leaders.
It is Allah that instructed us, until we soak the ground of Nigeria with Christian blood and so called Muslims contradicting Islam. After we have killed, killed, killed, and get fatigue and wondering on what to do with smelling of their corpses, smelling of Obama, Bush and Jonathan [Jonathan Goodluck, president of Nigeria] worried us then we will open prison and be imprisoned the rest. Infidels have no value.
It is believed that he is selling the girls off as brides for $12 a piece.
In some much-needed good news, President Obama is speaking out about the kidnappings, calling it a “terrible situation.” He also revealed how the US government plans on helping locate and bring back the girls.
Boko Haram, this terrorist organization that’s been operating in Nigeria, has been killing people and innocent civilians for a very long time. We’ve always identified them as one of the worst local or regional terrorist organizations there is out there. But I can only imagine what the parents are going through.
So what we’ve done is we have offered — and it’s been accepted — help from our military and law enforcement officials. We’re going to do everything we can to provide assistance to them. In the short term, our goal obviously is to help the international community and the Nigerian government as a team to do everything we can to recover these young ladies. But we’re also going to have to deal with the broader problem of organizations like this that can cause such havoc in people’s day-to-day lives.
Keeping hope alive for the safe return of those 200 students and counting! Such a sad situation!
