Beyoncé, Jay Z, Drake & August Alsina Lead BET Award Nominations + Diamond Platinumz from Tanzania nominated for the first time

Beyonce and Jay-Z perform at Sound of Change concert
August Alsina BET Awards
Someone over at BET realized that now would be a perfect time to release this year’s BET Awards nominations!
As always, this year power couple Jay Z and Beyoncé are still on top, leading the 2014 BET Awards nominations with four nods each. Beyoncé is nominated in the Best Female R&B/Pop categories as well as Best Collaboration (“Drunk In Love”) and Video of the Year (“Partition” and “Drunk In Love”), while Jay is up against Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Drake, and Future for Best Hip Hop Artist, and snags a nod for Best Collab for “Holy Grail” with Justin Timberlake. Noticeably missing from the Best Hip Hop Artist category is Kanye West who usually makes an appearance on the list. It looks as though he has been replaced with Future.
Other noteworthy categories include, Best Female Hip Hop Artist with Nicki Minaj, Iggy Azalea, Angel Haze going up against Eve and Charli Baltimore who have been in the game for 15+ years.
Following right behind Jay and Bey with three nominations each are Drake, Pharrell Williams, Chris Brown, and newcomer August Alsina who snagged nods in the Best Male R&B category, as well as Best Collaboration (“I Luv This”) and Best New Artist.
Congrats to all of the nominees!
